At Ahern, our culture is built on more than the work we do; it’s also about finding ways to connect, have some fun, and get to know the people behind the projects.

This summer, we invited employees to share photos and stories of their best catches for a friendly fishing contest on our employee portal. From big catches to memorable fishing moments, our team brought plenty of personality and a little friendly competition to the challenge.

Congratulations to our winner, Ben, who reeled in the most votes! 🎣 🎉

Thanks to everyone who cast a line, shared a story, and joined in the fun. It’s activities like these that help make Ahern a place where people can connect beyond the jobsite and office.

For Ahern, People & Community at Our Core means more than where we work, it’s about how our people show up for one another and for the communities we call home.

As we continue highlighting Ahern’s five Unbreakable Values & Beliefs, we’re celebrating the many employees who give their time, talents and expertise to make a difference outside of work. Across Ahern, our people serve as coaches, mentors, nonprofit leaders, volunteers, first responders and community supporters.

One example is Ahern’s Luke Keck, who has spent nearly 25 years volunteering at Camp Onaway in Waupaca, Wisconsin. From lending his plumbing expertise to maintain the camp’s facilities to spending a week each summer mentoring young campers, Luke has found meaningful ways to use his skills to support an organization and community that matter to him.

Stories like Luke’s are happening throughout Ahern. They reflect a genuine commitment to strengthening the places where we live and work—and demonstrate what People & Community at Our Core looks like in action.

Our values aren’t simply words. They’re reflected in what our people do every day.

At Ahern, building the future starts with inspiring the next generation.

Last week, our Women in Construction Committee brought back a favorite Ahern tradition: the Daughters Build Event. Employees and their daughters gathered in person and virtually to create custom Ahern jewelry stands with an industrial-inspired design.

More than a hands-on project, the event gave parents an opportunity to share a little of what they do at Ahern while introducing their daughters to the creativity, problem-solving and pride that come with building something themselves.

We loved seeing moms, dads and daughters working side by side, and perhaps inspiring a few future builders along the way.

Career growth doesn’t always follow a straight path, and Alicia’s journey at Ahern is a great example.

Alicia joined Ahern in 2019 as a Supply Chain Planner after beginning her career in sales. With support, training, and opportunities to grow, she advanced to Buyer in 2022 and then to Assistant Purchasing Manager later that same year.

Today, Alicia leads a team of planners and coordinators, supporting their day-to-day work while focusing on training and development. Her background in sales continues to shape her leadership style, helping her connect with her team, recognize individual strengths, and support their growth.

At Ahern, we’re committed to investing in our people and helping employees build meaningful career paths.
