Ahern celebrated the ribbon-cutting of our new Mason City, Iowa, office last week in partnership with the Greater Mason City Chamber of Commerce.

This new location strengthens our presence in Iowa and expands our ability to serve customers throughout northern Iowa with responsive, local fire protection and life safety expertise. From fire sprinkler systems and special hazard suppression to fire alarm systems, inspections, maintenance, and repair, our Mason City team is ready to support commercial and industrial customers across the region.

Thank you to the Mason City Chamber of Commerce and everyone who joined us to mark this exciting milestone. We look forward to building strong relationships in the Mason City community and continuing to help protect people, property, and businesses across northern Iowa.

Welcome to our 2026 Interns!

This summer, we’re excited to welcome 48 interns from 19 colleges and universities across the Midwest to Ahern. From the office to the field, this talented group will gain hands-on experience while supporting teams across nearly all of our locations.

We’re also proud to welcome back 12 returning interns as they continue building their careers with Ahern.

Our internship program remains an important pipeline for future talent, and we’re grateful to everyone who helped recruit, interview, and welcome this year’s class.

What's On Your Mind Matters.

At Ahern, safety is the most important thing we do — and that includes supporting the mental well-being of our people.

As we wrap up Mental Health Awareness Month, we’re highlighting the ongoing work behind Ahern Mind Matters, our mental health initiative designed to connect employees and their families with helpful resources, support, and information.

This effort is guided by our dedicated mental health committee, which helps keep mental health at the forefront of our safety culture through employee resources, team discussions, training, and continued awareness. But it’s our people who truly put this into practice by showing up for one another and making it part of how they work every day.

Because creating a safe workplace means more than protecting people physically. It means building a culture where our people feel supported, valued, and empowered to ask for help when they need it.

Congratulations to Ahern apprentices Sawyer Nelson and Trevor Roehrig on earning first place at their respective state apprentice competitions!

Sawyer, a Sprinkler Fitter apprentice with our Twin Cities Service team, took the top spot at the 2026 Minnesota Pipe Trades Association State Apprentice Contest. Trevor, a fifth-year Steamfitter apprentice with UA Local 400, earned first place in the Wisconsin Steamfitter Competition.

Both competitions tested apprentices on technical skill, craftsmanship, safety, and industry knowledge — and Sawyer and Trevor rose to the top.

Next up, they’ll represent their locals and Ahern at the UA District Competition in Chicago, June 9-11, competing against top apprentices from across the region.

Their accomplishments reflect the strength of Ahern’s apprenticeship programs and the dedication, mentorship, and hands-on learning that help our people succeed.
