The power of pollinators. ππ¦πͺ°πΈπΌ
Of course we all learned what pollination is back in school, but this year I planted with more thought and intention. I did wild flowers, Daisy's, assorted sunflowers, bought pollinator mixes etc. I strategically planted chaos gardens π
Meaning, I made sure I had things producing different bright colors in all corners, in the middle of beds, in front of the garden etc. Different heights. I planted thinking "if I was a bee, butterfly, hummingbird etc what would catch my eye to get me to the back corner where I have my tomatoes. And then, I over did it....AND IT WORKED. I have hanging baskets, flowers beds, bee drinkers, bee hotels....next will be bee boxes someday.
WE ALSO USE ZERO PESTICIDES, W**D KILLER, OR CHEMICALS TO TREAT ANYTHING ON THE PROPERTY, because that 100% kills off your natural, organic and necessary ecosystem needed to grow a healthy natural garden, including killing and detering your pollinators. Not to mention, it contaminates your produce you plan to put in your body. I dont want to have pesticides and chemicals as part of my diet...thats kinda why I garden after all.
I have supplied a one stop shop for pollinators to hang out and go from plant to plant across my garden. Learn about pollinators, then make sure your garden meets their needs so they dont need to go elsewhere and can continue to be the best gardener you have at your homestead.
I have hundreds of vegetables coming in, without blossom end rot. Everything is getting pollinated and producing at least 3 times what it was when I just had some Marigolds and sunflowers.
I have a very strategic chaos garden. And its all working together.
