With Tropical Storm Isaias strengthening and expected to reach the Gulf Coast on Friday, we want to remind our neighbors in Baldwin and Mobile Counties: If your home has hurricane shutters or other deployable opening protection, don't wait until conditions deteriorate to put them in place.
🏠 This isn't just about protecting your home—it may also matter for your insurance coverage.
Depending on the terms of your homeowners insurance policy, failing to use required protective measures—such as hurricane shutters—could potentially affect how a storm-related claim is handled.
✅ Deploy your shutters according to the manufacturer's instructions
✅ Take photos showing they were properly installed
✅ Finish preparations well before conditions become unsafe
✅ Never attempt to install shutters once high winds arrive
Your safety comes first. Prepare early, protect your home, and follow updates from local emergency management and the National Weather Service.
Stay safe, Gulf Coast! ❤️
