Access panels are often an essential part of an apartment renovation—whether you need to reach plumbing valves or equipment for future maintenance.

Here, the panel sits outside the bathroom and provides access to the steam shower equipment. We chose a Fittes access panel that sits flush with the wall, giving a necessary feature a cleaner, more intentional finish.

We bring that same consideration to valve access and other service points throughout a home. Planning for maintenance should be part of the design from the beginning.

Small decisions like these help the entire renovation feel more considered.

Small details make a difference—even above your head.

In the primary bathroom and every other bathroom in this renovation, we replaced the standard exhaust fan covers with Envisivent™ covers, finished flush with the ceiling, spackled in, and painted to match.

The result: a clean, trimless finish that blends into the space instead of interrupting it.

An exhaust fan cover may seem like a small decision. But a thoughtfully finished home is built on hundreds of those decisions.

Still in progress—but you can start to see what’s coming.

In part two of our Phase One walkthrough, we’re sharing a look at the guest bathroom, where integrated laundry and a steam shower will bring everyday function and a little retreat into the same space. The walk-in closet is also taking shape as we move through the apartment.

This is the stage where careful planning starts becoming visible—and we’re excited to see it all come together.

Once the kitchen is installed in a few months, we’ll be ready to share the complete reveal. Follow along as the details come into place.

Phase One is complete. Now the transformation begins.

Right now, it’s a vanilla box — but we already see what’s coming.

A finished fireplace. A dedicated office space. A fully customized built-in wall running through the living area, complete with a dry bar facing the future custom kitchen.

This project will be completed in two phases, and we’re just getting started.

Low ceilings? The details matter.

For this street-level NYC apartment renovation, we used trimless recessed lighting to keep the ceiling as clean and visually uninterrupted as possible.

Unlike traditional recessed lights with visible trim, these fixtures are integrated into the finished ceiling, creating a seamless, architectural look. And when ceiling height is limited, eliminating unnecessary visual clutter can make the entire space feel cleaner and more refined.

It’s a small detail—but good renovations are built on details.

Mistakes happen in construction. What matters is what you do next. 🛠️

During this bathroom renovation, we made a measuring mistake. The partition wall separating the toilet and sink was supposed to align perfectly with the edge of the countertop — and it didn’t.

At first glance, this bathroom may look almost finished. But “almost right” isn’t good enough for us.

So we’re removing the sink, correcting the wall, finishing it properly, and reinstalling everything so the final result matches the original design intent.

It means extra work on our end, but that’s part of taking responsibility for the work we put our name on.

At Precise Design, craftsmanship isn’t about never making a mistake. It’s about catching it, owning it, and making it right.

Not every waterproofing job comes with easy access.

For this project, we had to work inside an inter-building areaway only 18–20 inches wide. Decades of debris had accumulated between the buildings, burying the lower portion of the foundation wall and preventing proper access.

We started by removing years of debris to expose the foundation and masonry. Once accessible, we removed all loose and deteriorated stucco, reinforced and repaired the exposed brickwork, and applied new stucco to restore the wall.

After the surface was properly prepared, we waterproofed the foundation with a rubberized flashing membrane, allowed it to fully cure, and finished it with an exterior foundation coating for additional protection.

Tight access. Decades of buildup. No shortcuts.

Proper waterproofing starts with exposing the problem, repairing the substrate, and building the protection back correctly from the foundation up.

One of the most exciting milestones in any renovation: the walls are finally closed. 🙌

This is the moment when the project truly starts coming together. The framing, plumbing, electrical, and all the work hidden behind the walls is complete, and now the vision begins to take shape.

The walls have been professionally skim coated to a Level 5 finish, the ceilings have been plastered and primed, and everything is now ready for paint. From this point forward, every finish—from flooring and millwork to cabinetry, tile, and lighting—will transform the space into the home our clients envisioned.

Before a single tile is installed, the planning begins.

Our tile has arrived, and we’re carefully laying out every piece to select the best pattern, align the veining, balance color variation, and create a seamless finished look. This planning stage is one of the biggest differences between a standard tile installation and a premium one.

A beautiful custom kitchen starts long before the cabinets are installed.

At this stage of the renovation, we’re confirming every measurement and every location before the walls are closed. The cooktop, wall oven, microwave, built-in refrigerator, drawer layouts, electrical outlets, plumbing, and cabinet dimensions all have to work together with precision. A few inches in the wrong direction today can become a costly problem later.

This planning phase is one of the most important parts of a successful kitchen renovation. Taking the time to verify every detail ensures the custom cabinetry fits exactly as designed and every appliance integrates seamlessly.

This is the difference between simply installing cabinets and building a kitchen that’s designed to function beautifully for years to come.
