Here’s a fire hazard that will sneak up on you! Your bathroom vent fan collects dust, hair, and lint. If left on for too long that motor under the cover gets hot and it can ignite. Also some bathroom fans have heaters in them, it’s getting cold so call us BEFORE starting that heater up, this one was extremely bad and if the customer had turned their heater on this would be a completely different post. This dryer vent had a bird nest right there at the cover, it wasn’t a hard removal but it was very much needed. The lint and the nest were super light and the force of the dryer running alone made that nest blast out of there. Not only did it block up airflow, but that super light and fluffy lint with the grass mixed in was a super fire hazard!

Here is an another fire hazard that I come across daily! Your bathroom fans collect dust and hair and lint. The motor underneath your bathroom fan cover gets really hot if left on for long periods of time. And will catch on fire! These dryer vent covers are super dangerous! They do keep the squirrels and birds out but they also keep the lint in which will cause a fire! I cleaned this vent and installed a proper cage on it with vertical only slats.

This dryer vent was carelessly painted over by a painter. The paint dried and glued it shut, no air was getting out. Heat was building up in the vent, the dryer, and the house. It’s a major fire hazard. Just because you find a cheap contractor doesn’t mean it’s worth it. This could have easily been a disaster because someone was too lazy to tape over the vent covers.

Running a dryer with a clogged up vent is like and asthmatic person running a marathon. The cleaning is like a dose of albuterol. Opens it right up! This one was super bad though!

If you needed a sign to clean your dryer vent this is it. Some of the lint that came out of this dryer vent was charred! This lint got hot enough to burn. Have your dryer vents cleaned folks, it had been 5+ years on this vent. It’s not a joke, this isn’t a scare tactic, this is reality. Your home can catch on fire if your dryer vent clogs. I had a customer reach out over the weekend, their voltages wouldn’t dry. They have a couple kids in sports so there was laundry to do all the time. It was taking 3-4 cycles to dry their clothes and the homeowner was almost at a breaking point. Their dryer vent had not been cleaned since they moved in several years ago, and this is what I found!! The dryer vent was almost completely clogged shut. Not only was this a nuisance for getting clothes dry, but it’s a HUGE fire hazard!!
