5:10 PM: Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Barrow, Gwinnett, Hall, and Jackson Counties until 6:00 PM EDT

A severe thunderstorm was detected on FOX 5 Live VIPIR near Road Atlanta-Lanier Speedway, about 10 miles south of Gainesville, moving south at 20 mph. This storm is capable of wind gusts up to 60 mph and quarter-size hail. Hail damage to vehicles is possible with this storm, along with wind damage to roofs, siding, and trees. Communities in the path include Winder, Jefferson, Braselton, Auburn, Hoschton, Bethlehem, Pendergrass, Carl, Talmo, Fort Yargo State Park, Chateau Elan, and Chestnut Mountain. This warning covers portions of Barrow, northeastern Gwinnett, south central Hall, and west central Jackson Counties.

The heat advisory has been extended through 8 pm Sunday. Temperatures will be in the mid to upper 90s with heat index around 105-109°.
