This is my first commercial project in over a decade—and I couldn’t be more excited!

The last commercial space I designed was an Italian pottery showroom in Kansas City back in 2014. I’ve been waiting for the right project to jump back into commercial design, and this one is the perfect fit.

The owner wanted to keep the existing tile backsplash, so we used it as inspiration for the new color palette. We’re refreshing the space with Sherwin-Williams Accessible Beige, a sophisticated smoky blue, Cyberspace on the doors and trim, and new wainscoting to add character while making the space feel brighter and more spacious.

One design challenge was the high-top table surrounding the center support post. While it seemed like a good seating area, it wasn’t functioning particularly well because of the limited clearance between it and the bar. If both areas were occupied, moving through the space became difficult.

Since the support post couldn’t go anywhere, I started thinking… what if we turned it into a feature instead?

One of my favorite design solutions was transforming that awkward area into a custom display feature. Instead of removing the existing wine barrel, we’re incorporating it into a unique display that will showcase products from local makers while preserving valuable seating space.

A special thank you to Tweeds Fine Furnishings and His Wondrous Works for collaborating on this project. I appreciate partnering with local businesses to create spaces that support our community.

The transformation is just getting started, and I can’t wait to share the progress!

Way to go, Jason with Exclusive Mountain Designs! 🔥

Loving the bold red that perfectly reflect our client’s vibrant personality as an artist. Her stunning abstract artwork—filled with rich reds, blues, and expressive color—will become a focal point in this Airstream transformatiom.

This project keeps getting more exciting, and I can’t wait to share more updates as it comes together!

If you were designing a space around a piece of artwork, would you match the colors exactly or use complementary colors to make it stand out? 🎨👇

If you know me, you know that when I’m not designing beautiful spaces, you’ll usually find me on a hiking trail or camping somewhere in the mountains. 🥾⛰️

My love for the outdoors is one of the reasons pursuing my LEED certification is so important to me.

LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) is a globally recognized certification focused on sustainable building practices, energy efficiency, healthy indoor environments, and environmentally responsible design. It aligns with my belief that great design should not only look beautiful but also be thoughtful about its impact on people and the environment.

So while I’m enjoying some downtime on my next camping trip, I’ll also be diving into these study books and working toward my next professional goal.

I firmly believe we should never stop learning. Whether it’s for your career, a personal passion, or simply to challenge yourself, growth happens when we’re willing to keep expanding our knowledge.

What are you currently learning, studying for, or striving toward? I’d love to hear what’s inspiring you lately.

This has been one of the projects I’ve been most excited to see come to life.

This custom Airstream bar lounge is packed with personality—from the bold red accents and blue penny round tile backsplash to the solid surface countertops and custom TV cabinet that lowers the TV out of sight, revealing hidden wine storage behind it. One of my favorite details is the wood ceiling feature with integrated LED lighting that adds warmth and creates the perfect atmosphere for entertaining.

The owners will spend most of the year using this as their personal bar and hangout space, with just one annual adventure down to the Grand Canyon. The wife is also an artist, creating custom painted panels for the cabinet doors, which inspired the color palette throughout the design.

I always say I get to live vicariously through my clients. I’ve always dreamed of owning an Airstream, so designing one for a client is the next best thing!

If you could customize an Airstream just for you, what feature would be at the top of your wish list?

Another exciting piece of this new build project is coming together — the bathrooms and plumbing fixture selections. ✨

I presented the client with three different design directions, and she ultimately chose this warm, timeless option featuring rich tones and traditional-inspired fixtures. The goal was to create bathrooms that feel elevated and luxurious while still feeling inviting and connected to the natural surroundings of the home.

Hammered copper sinks, warm bronze plumbing fixtures, and a sculptural soaking tub bring texture, depth, and character into the space, while soft neutral finishes help keep the overall design balanced and refined.

I love how this concept feels both classic and cozy — creating a bathroom that feels less like a utility space and more like a personal retreat. 🤎

Another project for a growing family — this time transforming the laundry room into a space that feels both more functional and a little happier to be in. ✨

Living surrounded by nature, it felt fitting to bring some of the outdoors inside through soft green cabinetry and warm natural finishes. Instead of the laundry room feeling purely utilitarian, the goal was to create a space that feels calm, organized, and enjoyable to use every day.

Function was just as important as aesthetics in this design. Thoughtful cabinetry, designated storage, and built-in bins for sorting laundry will help simplify everyday routines and make the space work harder for this busy family.

I presented the clients with two design options — both beautiful in different ways. Now the big question is… which one do you think they’ll choose? 👀🤍

Designing for growing families always requires thoughtful planning — especially when one room needs to serve multiple purposes. ✨

This project for a family in Green Mountain Falls near Pikes Peak was designed in preparation for welcoming a new addition to the family. The goal was to create a shared children’s bedroom that feels warm, timeless, and functional while giving both kids room to grow for years to come.

Luckily, the room had a generous layout, which allowed us to thoughtfully incorporate everything growing children need into one cohesive space — sleeping areas, study space, book storage, desks, and a dedicated play area all within one room.

Classic navy furniture paired with warm natural wood tones creates a polished yet playful feel, while built-in storage keeps the room organized and practical for everyday life. Sports-inspired accents add personality and make the space feel fun without overwhelming the design.

The result is a flexible, elevated children’s room designed to evolve beautifully alongside this growing family. 🤍

A new chapter calls for a completely new feeling. ✨

This home, located in a beautiful neighborhood overlooking Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs, is a major lifestyle shift for the clients. After living in a rural Colorado home filled with traditional mountain cabin style, they wanted this new space to feel softer, lighter, and more contemporary while still feeling warm and inviting.

Many of the rustic furnishings from their previous home will live downstairs, but the upstairs was designed intentionally different — elevated, calming, and refined to reflect this fresh season of life.

One meaningful piece they are bringing with them is a stunning horse painting that will live in the stairwell, creating a beautiful transition between the old and the new. The challenge was finding selections that complemented the artwork and honored their love for Colorado living without leaning too heavily into the rustic mountain aesthetic.

The result is a warm mountain modern retreat that feels timeless, sophisticated, and deeply personal. 🤍

When preparing a home for resale, strategic updates make all the difference. ✨

This client is getting ready to sell a home that hasn’t been updated in decades, with the goal of maximizing both appeal and profit. As a designer, I always say the best return on investment comes from focusing on kitchens and bathrooms first — these spaces have the biggest impact on buyers emotionally and financially.

For this project, we’re creating an elevated timeless contrast by blending warm neutrals, crisp whites, and black accents for a look that feels both fresh and classic. White tile, quartz countertops, subway backsplash, and updated fixtures bring a clean, modern feel, while warm beige cabinetry keeps the home feeling inviting and approachable.

To tie everything together, the entire home is also receiving a fresh paint update with Alabaster walls to brighten the space and create a cohesive flow throughout.

The goal is a move-in-ready home that photographs beautifully, attracts more buyers, and increases perceived value from the moment someone walks through the door. 🤍
