A throwback for Juneteenth!
In 2002, LED had the honor of designing the museum and library addition for W.C. Handy Home and Museum. The one-story log cabin was the birthplace of W.C. Handy, also known as the Father of the Blues. The addition matches the scale and materials of the log cabin, and it houses the Black Heritage Library, a meeting room, and office spaces.

LX Hausys brought two of our team to Georgia to tour their quartz and solid surface manufacturing plants. Lydia and Sadie had a lot of fun and were blown away by the scale of their operations!

Here are some photos of Bank Independent, Member FDIC's Operations Center! The building has a cafe, exercise rooms, outdoor patio and balcony spaces, numerous conference rooms, smaller huddle rooms, and several open office spaces.

Bank Independent, Member FDIC's Operations Center is now up and running! This was one of the largest and most complex projects LED has worked on, so we were delighted to attend the ribbon cutting ceremony earlier this week.

LED has a new architect, Alan Williamson! With a Bachelor of Arts with Honors in Architecture from Yale and a Master of Architecture from Harvard, he managed his own firm in Fort Payne for 22 years before becoming a principal at Harrison Design Associates in Atlanta. We feel very fortunate that his desire to live in the Shoals has led him to us!

LED is integrating Justin White into our office from the Lathan McKee team. A native of the Shoals and a UNA graduate, Justin will be leading L&M Group's new Building Envelope Division, which will offer a variety of services related to roofing and condition analysis. LED's in-house team has always offered roofing and re-roofing services, so now we're excited to expand our capabilities along with Justin and the rest of L&M Group!

Here's another project that LED is working on with Lathan and McKee & Associates Architects! Matching additions at R.E. Thompson Intermediate and G.W. Trenholm Primary for Tuscumbia City Schools have four classrooms and a storm shelter each. Carbine Construction Company has got the walls up and is working on roofing and insulation. We look forward to seeing more progress!

Florence City Schools' addition at Braly Stadium is nearly ready to have a roof! Butler Construction Company LLC is completing the walls and starting on the roof joists. Those of us at LED and Lathan McKee are excited to watch the building take shape!
