Florence Garden Club was founded 1949*****Learning and sharing all aspects of gardening, nature & marine life with the community. We have an annual plant sale & raffle on the Saturday of Mother's Day weekend in May. This enables the club to provide scholarships to local High School seniors. Annual dues are $ 20
Meetings held on the 2nd Wed. of the Month, Sept-June at Presbyterian Church of the Siuslaw 3996 Hwy101 N--------1P.M. Programs are open to the public.

Suksdorf's paintbrush (Castilleja suksdorfii) is a beautiful wildflower of high, moist mountain meadows in the Cascade Mountains from the Goat Rocks Wilderness in Washington south to Crater Lake in Oregon, with a small disjunct population in SW Oregon. The flowers are bright to deep red with a yellow band at the demarcation between red and green floral parts (See image.)

The attached image was taken in upper High Prairie along the old service road that led to the old lookout atop Lookout Mountain, Badger Creek Wilderness..........July 4, 2013. They should be blooming a bit earlier there this year.
