I started waterproofing a bathroom today in a new renovation for one of my favorite clients! I LOVE Schluter-Systems North America so much and continue to be SO grateful to my incredible Schluter Rep for all of her help ensuring I’m getting everything set perfectly!

This was my first time waterproofing with the Kerdi Boards and I have to say…I am SUCH a fan!

My first 2 bathrooms were with Kerdi membrane over sheetrock. As someone who is fairly new to this, I haven’t quite developed that sharp muscle memory wrist action required to efficiently and smoothly get the large panels of Kerdi membrane just right! Being able to take my time with the boards and fasteners was definitely more my style.

I’m heading back for Day 2 to waterproof the seams and fasteners next, then set the shower tray. Waterproofing truly doesn’t get any easier than Schluter!

It’s been awhile since I’ve posted updates! I’ve had so many simultaneous projects going right now…on a few different fronts.

With Spring in full swing, most of my ongoing projects have to do with the farm as I’m racing time to complete the most urgent builds. You can follow those project updates at grace farms or the daily highlights on Instagram at .

This is a little project that I have been wanting to make for a year, but just kept getting put off. I had an idea in my head how I wanted to build it, but I wasn’t quite sure how it would come together.

I just decided to kind of wing it and I’m so happy with how it’s turning out! I’m going to finish it soon and post Part 2 once complete, but I was too excited to not share this early progress and how it came together.

I waterproofed my first bathroom today, thanks to my Field Rep Liz Roberts Works and Schluter-Systems North America 🙌🏽

We’re bringing this new construction home build to the finish line this month and roaring into the finishes!

We had to execute this build extremely efficiently to ensure we could move through each component very swiftly. When the project budget didn’t have flexibility for costly tile labor, we had to get creative. I attended the Schluter Workshop to learn how to waterproof a bathroom, which is the critical preparation ahead of setting tile.

Thankfully, my Rep is absolutely AMAZING and came on site today to make sure everything was prepped correctly. 🙌🏽

Thank you SO much Liz for helping me sprinkle some magic into the world for this client to provide her with the most beautiful bathrooms!

I’ll be waterproofing the 2nd bathroom solo tomorrow, then bring on the tile! 💪🏽

I am LONG overdue an update on my Quonset Hut build…but I’ve had many viewers of this video playlist series (on YouTube) request I post an update since they’ve been following along while working on their own Quonset builds (behind me in the process).

I’m SO sorry it has taken me so long to post an update video. It’s been an extremely hectic couple of months and I’m so behind on finishing up this build!

I just wanted to pop in with some details of the garage overhead door installation in case it helps those preparing to do so. Also, even though I haven’t finished sealing and waterproofing my building, I at least wanted to share the products I’ve purchased and plan of action.

I’m hoping to get caught up a bit more on the farm as well as urgent client projects that I’ve been tending to…so that I can get back to this build. I’m going to REALLY try hard to get as much of this done before my electrician comes in to do the rough electrical work (scheduled for the last week of June). I’ll check in with more updates as soon as I have made more progress!

Many have also been asking about my project costs so far. I’ve been asked this in the past and I have an itemized list of costs to date on another video in this series. You can find that detailed cost list in the comment thread of the video on YouTube (on the Quonset Hut Build playlist) called “SteelMaster Quonset Huy: Sheathing Complete”.

This series of construction videos is primarily for my YouTube Channel...where I get a lot of questions and help others on their SteelMaster Quonset Hut builds with the benefit of hindsight on different phases of my build.

I received a question from one viewer this week asking me to go into further detail about how the metal framing works. So I popped into to the quonset for a quick look at how the components are constructed. We actually used an incredible framing subcontractor for this, but I tried to give some closeups to detail how that all comes together.
