Four months of progress on Main Street.

In April, Bubba O'Leary's General Store was a bare metal shell behind our fence in Chimney Rock. By July the siding was up, the windows were set, and the porch roof was framed and dried in. In the newest photos the metal roof is on, the deck is rebuilt over its new columns, and the paint crew is working the porch.

Hurricane Helene took this store in September 2024. Helping bring it back, and Chimney Rock back with it, is some of the most meaningful work our crews have done.

Asheville, 1994.

After we built the Forest Discovery Center at the Cradle of Forestry, the Forest Service's District Ranger recommended us to The North Carolina Arboretum, and DeLaine DeBruhl went up to lay stone. The stacked boulder walls along the main entrance are his, set by hand. At the quilt garden he poured a concrete wall, and Stepp Stone laid the rock veneer over it. Two different kinds of wall.

The road in came first, then the water: a well, pumps, tanks, and 3,904 feet of pipe nobody will ever see. Then they called us back again. Six contracts over ten years. We built their maintenance building in 2003 and planted a living roof on it, twenty years before green roofs caught on. The heavy timber Bonsai Exhibition Garden followed, finished December 6, 2004.

The architect's 1996 letter of recommendation said it best: "The punch list we developed was short."

Thirty years later the stone is still standing. It was a privilege to build it.

From a devastating loss to full operational continuity in less than a year.

After a fire destroyed AppleWedge Packers & Cider's processing and cold storage facilities, Cooper Construction was trusted to deliver an expedited design-build solution before the critical fall harvest season.

Our team designed and constructed a 52,500 SF pre-engineered metal building, integrating specialized apple processing lines, dedicated raw and packaged fruit coolers, and a two-story office space. To meet the precise demands of cider and apple storage, our in-house HVAC division designed and installed the facility's specialized climate control systems.

We are proud to deliver projects that support our local agricultural partners and keep Western North Carolina business moving forward.

Cooper Construction is proud to have completed this 13,000-square-foot, two-story production and event facility for Marked Tree Vineyard, built to elevate both the vineyard's winemaking and guest experience.

Inside, dedicated production zones including a Vat Room, Barrel Room, crush pad, and secure Wine Case Storage support the craft of winemaking, while a welcoming reception area, custom-built bar, full kitchen, and beautifully finished spaces welcome guests in style.

From production to hospitality, this facility was designed to do it all, and we're honored to have helped bring it to life!

Proud to support local students heading back to school!

Cooper Construction joined a group of our subcontractors and local community members to help fill a truckload of school supplies for Henderson County foster care students!

Progress continues at the Henderson County Judicial Center Addition & Renovation (JCAR)! Construction updates for the new courthouse and detention center include:

Area A: Structural steel is going up as we prep for roof installation.
Area B: Precast is roughly 60-75% complete.
Area C: MEP work is advancing, and we've started renovating the women's exercise yard. Sallyport precast is installed, with concrete slab scheduling underway.
Area D: Foundation work is prepping the way for precast installation.
Inside the building: Demo is underway in the VIP offices.
Courts: Erosion control is in place, and grading work continues.

We love seeing local businesses thrive, and we’re incredibly proud of our design-build partnership with Stone Ashe Vineyard right here in Hendersonville. Our team constructed their 4,240-square-foot production facility to handle everything from grape processing to temperature-controlled barrel aging, helping to take their grapes from vines to barrels of their award-winning wines.

By pairing pre-engineered building construction with conventional building methods, we created a structure that is both aesthetically pleasing and budget conscious. For the exterior, we paired local rough-sawn pine with modern metal panels to give it that perfect "industrial-meets-earthy" look that complements the Blue Ridge mountain backdrop.

Behind the scenes, we also installed a specialized, high-efficiency hybrid HVAC zoning system to ensure the climate control needed to produce great wines.

Cheers to the Stone Ashe team as they continue to craft their extraordinary wines!

When a devastating fire destroyed Apple Wedge Packers' facility in January, the clock immediately started ticking. They needed to completely rebuild their cold storage, packing, and cider operations before fall harvest.

Our design-build team stepped up to the challenge on an expedited timeline and constructed a brand new 52,500 SF state-of-the-art facility to get them back up and running in time for their main packing season.

The new build consolidates their entire operation under one roof, featuring:
• A state-of-the-art packing production line & cider processing area
• Specialized climate-controlled coolers designed by our in-house HVAC team
• A two-story office space and modern employee amenities

We’re proud to have partnered with AppleWedge to construct this new building and ensure they didn’t miss a harvest.

We're proud to have completed this beautiful interior renovation, including a full bar and lounge refresh, dining room updates, restroom upgrades, and improved accessibility throughout the facility.

We've had the opportunity to work with HCC on a variety of great projects since 2004, from restaurant renovations to Hurricane Helene repairs, and it's always an honor to work alongside their great team.
