The Artisan Storyteller (Best for a photo of a cool lamp)
Don’t let a beautiful light stay hidden in the shadows.
Whether it’s a family heirloom antique or a one-of-a-kind modern piece, every light has a story. With over 20 years of experience at Rios Electric LLC, we specialize in bringing “abandoned” fixtures back to life.
We love getting creative like converting a Tiffany ceiling fixture into a custom table or floor lamp. If you have a piece that needs a rewire, a repair, or a complete transformation, we’re here to help it shine again.

Give your favorite light a second chance.

Is Your Tree Hiding a Hazard?
Check out this video the meter pan, service head, and service wires are almost completely buried inside this pine tree!
While we love privacy, this is a major safety risk. Branches rubbing against service wires wear down insulation, causing arcing or even electrical fires. In a storm, those branches can easily snag the wires and tear them right off the house!

COMMUNICATION: We work with you to identify exactly which branches need to go for safe clearance (usually 3 feet) without ruining your landscaping.
SAFETY FIRST: For a service this obstructed, we may need to coordinate with the utility company to safely de-energize the lines before work begins.
PROACTIVE CARE: Trimming a few branches now is much cheaper than replacing an entire service head after a storm!

By adding a cord-and-plug connection, we’ve given this homeowner the ability to safely disconnect their appliance without touching the electrical panel. Plus, with the GFCI right there, they have local protection they can test and reset easily.
Small changes make a big difference in a functional kitchen!

Satisfying Lamp Post Install
Winter won’t stop this upgrade. We cleared the snow and got to work installing this brand new Sternberg lamp post. We utilized the existing concrete base with fresh hardware for a rock solid finish. Everything went smoothly, and the customer is thrilled with the new glow.

Is Your Pool Light Secretly Leaking
It’s not a leak, it’s a SHOCK hazard. This is the junction box for your pool light that water isn’t coming from the rain it’s traveling through the pipes directly from your pool. Turn off the pool light breaker immediately. This is how equipment gets ruined and, more importantly, how pool water becomes energized.

Why This is a “Perfect Storm” for Fire
I’m seeing this way too often. Putting heating cable directly on plywood, wrapping it in foam, and skipping the GFCI? You aren’t just breaking code; you’re building a bonfire.
Here is why this is a disaster:
1. Constant heat on plywood lowers its ignition point over time.
2. The “Oven” Effect foam traps heat, melting the cable.
3. No GFCI means no shutoff when things go wrong.
Do it right or don’t do it at all.

What NOT to do
Running extension cords through suspended ceilings is a violation for a reason, it’s a major fire hazard hidden behind a tile. Flexible cords cannot be run through holes in walls, structural ceilings, or dropped/suspended ceilings.

The “Real Talk” Renovation
Behind the drywall, everyone loves the “After” photos, but nobody talks about the electrical maze you find once the walls come down. We’re deep in the demo phase, and these old lines have got to go before we can start the fresh install. It looks like a giant bowl of spaghetti right now, but it’s all part of the process.
