👑💗 Houseplant of the Week: Pink Princess Philodendron!

Talk about a royal beauty! The Pink Princess Philodendron is famous for its gorgeous variegated leaves splashed with shades of bubble-gum pink, green and white. No two leaves are quite alike!

And while she may look fancy, the Pink Princess is actually pretty easy to care for.

Give her:
☀️ Bright, indirect light — good light helps show off those pinks, but avoid harsh direct sun.
💧 A good drink when the top half of the soil is dry — about once a week in spring and summer, and every couple of weeks in fall and winter.
💦 Warmth and humidity — she likes things cozy, around 65–79°F. Keep her away from drafts and heating or cooling vents.
🌱 Well-draining soil — a mix of potting soil, perlite and peat moss will keep her roots happy.

🌺 Wait… that’s not a flower?!

Bromeliads are full of surprises. There are nearly 3,600 species in the family, from the towering Puya raimondii to the pineapple (Ananas comosus)! 🍍

But for your indoor garden, we’re big fans of the Aechmea, often called the “beginner’s bromeliad.” It’s colorful, eye-catching and surprisingly easy to care for.

And that gorgeous pink “flower”? It’s actually a colorful cluster of leaves called bracts! Bromeliads typically bloom only once, then produce little “pups” or offsets around the base so the plant can carry on.

🌿 Bromeliad care tips:
☀️ Give it bright light, but avoid prolonged direct sun.
💧 Let the top couple inches of potting mix dry before watering again.
🌫️ Keep humidity around 60% — a little extra misting can help in our dry mountain climate.
🪴 Use a well-draining mix; regular potting soil is too dense.
🌱 Feed occasionally with a water-soluble fertilizer.

🌵 Four colors. One seriously cool agave.

Meet this week’s Houseplant of the Week: Agave lophantha ‘Quadricolor’! 💚💛❤️
This compact succulent brings a whole lot of color to your plant collection, with dark green leaves, lighter green centers, yellow-beige edges and reddish “teeth” lining the margins. Talk about a plant with some personality!

☀️ Give it: Plenty of bright, direct sunlight — a sunny south-facing window is perfect.
💧 Water it: About every two weeks during the growing season, but let the soil dry out completely between waterings.
🌵 Plant it in: A gritty, fast-draining cactus or succulent mix. Agaves do not like wet feet!

🚤🌸 All aboard the orchid express!

The Cymbidium orchid, also known as the boat orchid. Its name comes from the Latin cymba, meaning “boat,” thanks to the boat-like shape of its flower lip. Pretty clever for such a pretty plant!

Cymbidiums put on a spectacular floral show, with blooms in shades of white, green, orange, pink and yellow. And yes, those gorgeous, fragrant flowers are the kind you might spot in a corsage. 💐

Want to keep your boat orchid happily blooming?
☀️ Light: Give it about 4 hours of direct sun in a south-, east- or west-facing window. Cymbidiums are surprisingly tough when it comes to indoor sun!
💧 Water: Keep the soil consistently moist, but not soggy. Ease up on watering during winter.
🌱 Feed: Orchids like their meals light! Dilute your houseplant fertilizer to about half strength and feed every 2–4 weeks during the growing season.

🌿 We’re hiring at Warner’s!

We’re looking for a Part-Time Bedding Sales Associate/Cashier/Barista to join our team!

This is a cross-department role for someone who enjoys working with people, doesn’t mind getting their hands a little dirty and would love spending their workday surrounded by plants.

Responsibilities will include:

🌸 Helping customers select bedding plants and other products
🌱 Caring for, watering, stocking and maintaining plant material
🛒 Keeping the bedding department stocked and ready for customers
☕ Learning cashier and barista responsibilities
🌿 Assisting in multiple departments throughout the nursery as needed

Applicants must be available to work at least 24 hours per week, including weekends and holidays, and must be able to remain in the position through July 2027. This position begins at minimum wage.
