Officer Ahnert is assigned to Hoosier Road and Sand Creek elementary schools. She has 20 years of law enforcement experience and has served with our School Resource Unit since 2011.

In 1934, Eli Lilly Jr. bought an old farmhouse and its surrounding land along the White River in Hamilton County, planning to restore it and turn it into a museum. Nearly a century later, that property has grown into one of the most immersive living history sites in the country. 🌽

At its center is the William Conner House, built in 1823 and believed to be one of the very first brick homes in central Indiana, still standing and now on the National Register of Historic Places. Just steps away sits Prairietown, a fully recreated 1836 pioneer settlement where costumed interpreters spend their days cooking over open fires, tending gardens, and living out the daily rhythms of early Indiana statehood exactly as they would have unfolded two centuries ago.

Walking through it on an ordinary afternoon, it's easy to forget you're standing on land that was a private family farm less than a hundred years ago. Kids ask the interpreters questions, families wander from cabin to cabin, and for a few hours 1836 doesn't feel quite so far away.
