🌿 Spring Pruning Guide for Central Indiana 🌿

As everything starts to green up here in Central Indiana, now is the perfect time to get ahead on selective pruning—but timing is everything!

Here’s what you should be pruning right now 👇

✅ Dead, damaged, or diseased branches
– On any tree or shrub. This keeps plants healthy and looking clean.

✅ Summer & fall blooming shrubs
– Plants like hydrangeas (panicle & smooth varieties) and roses benefit from early spring pruning to encourage strong growth and better blooms.

✅ Ornamental grasses
– If you haven’t already, cut them back now before new growth takes off.

❌ Spring-flowering shrubs (like lilac, forsythia, azalea)
– These bloom on last year’s growth. Prune them after they flower, or you’ll lose this year’s blooms.

TCB Outdoors had the opportunity to design and install the hardscaping for the Brookside Timber Frame booth. It was a great project bringing together natural stone, hardscape design, and timber framing to create a space that really stands out.

🌱 Spring Is Waking Up — Are You Ready? 🌱

You might be starting to notice nature turning green again. The days are getting longer, temperatures are slowly warming up, and plants are beginning to wake up from their winter dormancy.

Right now you may start seeing:
• Early grass greening up
• Tree buds beginning to swell
• Early spring weeds starting to emerge
• Flower bulbs like tulips and daffodils pushing through the soil

Over the next few weeks, growth will really start to take off. Lawns will need their first cuts, landscape beds will need attention, and plants will begin putting on new growth quickly.
