💡 INFORMATION SUNDAY: What should I use to clean my new LVP floors?
Customers ask us this all the time after getting new LVP installed, and thankfully, keeping it clean can be both safe and affordable.
Two simple and safe options we recommend are:
• Moxie microfiber flip mop
• Zep Neutral pH Floor Cleaner
(Both items can be purchased at most major retailers and online)
A microfiber mop is gentle on the surface, and a pH-neutral cleaner helps clean without being too harsh on the protective wear layer.
Here’s what we recommend avoiding — and why:
• Steam mops — the combination of high heat and moisture can work its way into seams and may cause planks to warp, separate, or affect adhesives on certain flooring
• Bleach, ammonia, and harsh degreasers — these can be too aggressive and may dull or damage the floor’s protective finish over time.
• Wax and polish products — LVP is designed with its own finished wear layer, so waxes and “shine restoring” products can leave a sticky buildup that attracts dirt and makes the floor harder to clean.
• Abrasive cleaners or scrubbers — these can scratch or wear down the surface.
• Too much water — soaking the floor can allow moisture to get between or underneath the planks, especially around seams and edges.
For regular cleaning, sweep or vacuum first, then use a lightly damp microfiber mop with a pH-neutral cleaner.
Simple, safe, affordable, and a great way to help protect your flooring investment🏡
