Last Friday, ACI Const. Co., Inc., Kirk Bros Co. Inc., Inc. and Kirk Bros. Masonry Inc. had the opportunity to participate in Raise the Bar Hancock County's 8th Grade Career Connections Day!

Students stopped by to learn more about the companies of Kirk Corporation and the many career opportunities available in construction and the skilled trades. Even better, they had the chance to get some hands-on experience by operating a mini excavator and trying their hand at laying brick!

We’re proud to be part of opportunities like this that introduce students to career paths they may not have considered and give them a chance to experience the trades firsthand.

Thank you to Raise the Bar for bringing local employers and students together and helping build the next generation of our workforce!

Creating a Space to Build What Comes Next

ACI recently completed the renovation of the new STEAM Lab at Mohawk Local Schools in Sycamore, Ohio, transforming an existing school space into a hands-on learning environment designed to give students more opportunities to create, explore and build.

Completed over the summer, the finished STEAM Lab includes dedicated areas for presentations, robotics, horticulture, LEGO creativity and makerspace activities. Students also have access to 3D printers and a laser cutter, giving them the opportunity to take ideas from the classroom and turn them into something they can see, test and build.

Providing students with a place to develop creativity and technical skills through hands-on experiences is what makes projects like this especially rewarding for ACI. We are proud to have been part of bringing this new learning space to life for Mohawk Local Schools and its students.

Progress continues at the Findlay Shops retail center on the east side of Findlay!

Over the past few weeks, significant progress has been made, and the project is really beginning to take shape. Masonry walls are going up, defining each retail space, and if you're driving this week, you may even see the structural steel being erected.

You also may have noticed fencing being relocated between Walgreens and Chipotle. This area will be home to three new retail businesses, with tenants to be announced soon. Asphalt milling is scheduled to begin this week as the fence relocation is completed and construction gets underway.

ACI Const. Co., Inc. is proud to serve as the general contractor on this exciting development. Stay tuned for more updates as construction continues!

As part of our newsletter this month, we would like to share a very special memorial feature on Richard Kirk - someone who left a great impact on our community.

Kirk will be remembered as someone who worked hard to build successful businesses and cared deeply about his community - and as "the best Grampy." He expanded upon a legacy of entrepreneurship started by his family to establish Kirk Corporation and its divisions - Kirk Bros Co. Inc., a public water and wastewater construction company; ACI Const Co Inc. (formerly Alvada Construction ), a general construction company; ATI, (formerly Alvada Trucking, Inc.); Kirk Bros. Masonry Inc., a masonry contractor; and Bodie Mechanical Services Inc., electrical and mechanical services.

Read more here about this colorful character who left an immeasurable impact on the Findlay community, region and those around him.
