Chimney inspection time… this is why it’s so important to get yearly inspections done. From the outside, the chimney looks fine. You can see what was hiding inside - a huge amount of bird’s nesting compacted down at the roof line.
Further inspection inside showed improper clearance and no firestop or attic shield.
Everything was cleaned, repaired and brought up to code. Then we replaced the old fireplace doors, put in a new gas insert & new doors.
