Fall lawn care around here is mostly about getting ahead of winter w**ds.

W**ds sprout once the nights cool off, then spread across your yard while your St. Augustine or centipede grass slows down. A pre-emergent put down on time stops a lot of them before they ever show. Feeding your lawn also changes this time of year too. It's lighter than summer, so the grass isn't pushing new growth right before it goes dormant.

Heads get knocked crooked by the mower and a zone ends up watering the driveway instead of the lawn. With watering dropping to one day a week in November, it's worth getting the system checked and the timer reset now.

The best months to be outside on Amelia Island are about to start, and it is time to make sure your backyards are ready for them.

A paver patio to enjoy, maybe a walkway that doesn't wash out with the rain or a driveway that isn't cracking apart. That kind of work runs a few weeks from design to done, so starting now means using it in October and November instead of waiting on spring.
