Some projects look effortless from the outside. This one wasn't.

Expanding a kitchen inside Fernandina's historic district isn't as simple as picking a layout you like. Every inch of the footprint has to answer to the historic district council before a single wall goes up. We sourced original brick reclaimed from a garage once on the property to build the new porch resulting in an addition that feels like it's always belonged there.

Inside, the challenges got more personal. A family that actually cooks and lives in this kitchen needed storage, so we built it in: cabinetry that conceals the robot vacuum's charging dock, a bifold cabinet door for easier access, and a washer and dryer tucked completely out of sight.

The result blends two centuries without either one losing.
