Modernizing a historic home comes down to knowing what to keep.
When we open up a house like this one, the first thing we do is walk it with the original details in mind. The paneled mantel with its dentil molding. The stone walls that have stood for generations. That work took real craft to build, and it is not something you can simply order again.
So we plan around it. The new framing, windows, and siding are designed to sit comfortably next to what was already there, and we hold everything new to the same standard as the original. When the work is finished, old and new should read as one house.
That balance is why we take our time on projects like this. A renovation can give a family the layout and efficiency they want today without taking away the character that made them love the home.
If you are planning a renovation or an addition on an older home, send us a message. We would be glad to talk through it.
