Another concrete surface brought back to life. 💪

This patio had years of wear, discoloration, previous repairs, and multiple sections of concrete that no longer looked like one cohesive space.

We started with mechanical surface preparation, grinding the existing concrete to remove weak material and create the proper profile for adhesion. From there, we cleaned and prepared the entire surface before applying a cementitious resurfacing system across the patio.

The result: a cleaner, more uniform surface that ties the entire outdoor living area together and gives this backyard a fresh start.

One thing I’m especially proud of is what you can’t see in the finished picture—the prep work. A resurfacing job is only as good as the surface underneath it, and we don’t skip that step.

Sometimes a project isn’t about adding something new—it’s about finishing what should have been done right in the first place.

When our client contacted Ozark Construction Group LLC, the grading around the back of her new home was extremely steep. Originally, the soil had been brought nearly all the way up to the patio. After she asked the builders to improve the grade and provide a more reasonable step down into the yard, the area was regraded—but the project stopped there.

That left her with approximately a 15-inch drop from the back patio to the ground.

So we went to work.

We prepared and compacted a substantial aggregate base, formed a new patio extension with a custom curved edge, installed reinforcement, and poured a full-length concrete step along the existing patio to create a much safer and more natural transition into the backyard.

The result is additional usable outdoor space, a proper step down from the original patio, and a backyard that feels considerably more finished and functional.

And because the finished concrete only tells half the story, I included the progress photos. What goes underneath the concrete matters just as much as what you see on top of it.

Cutting a lot of concrete today!

From start to finish.

This custom brick mailbox started as a reinforced concrete foundation, cinder block core, rebar, and a vision.

Over the next several days, every brick was laid by hand, the joints were finished with white mortar for a clean modern contrast, a custom cast concrete address monument was installed, a sleek black mailbox was integrated into the design, and everything was topped off with a custom concrete cap.

Projects like this are why I love what I do. Every detail matters, and it’s incredibly rewarding to watch an idea become a permanent feature that will greet this homeowner every day for years to come.

Another project taking shape!

A little progress update from this week’s patio extension.

Every quality concrete job starts long before the truck arrives. Today was all about proper preparation:
✔️ Layout and excavation
✔️ Compacted crushed stone base
✔️ Forms set to establish the finished grade and curve
✔️ Getting everything ready for a clean broom-finished pour

The prep work isn’t the flashy part, but it’s what helps determine how well a slab performs for years to come. Taking the time to build a solid foundation is worth it.

Looking forward to getting this one poured and showing the finished product!
