Herbothecary Gardens lives!!!!! 💚👩🏻🌾🩵
After the original herb spiral enclosure in the front garden was decimated last Fall during the removal of a large old tree, and then I underwent major surgery early this year, my outlook was a little dismal. But - the garden and I are both recovering nicely, and just in time for Spring!!! 🥰🎉🤩 I am incredibly excited and grateful for getting it back up and running, and to have had the pleasure to tend this lovely space for so long. I remember creating the big herb spiral out front in 2015, and planting more basil than I knew what to do with! That is gone now, replaced with a more simply designed enclosure, but it is still every bit my sanctuary. 🌹 My roses, irises, and jumbo orange poppies began showing out for my birthday week! We planted Tomatoes galore this year: San Marzano, Roma, Sungold Cherry, 100-Sweet Cherry, Parker’s Whopper slicer tomatoes! There are also Jalapeños, strawberries, 1 raised bed of red potatoes, flat leaf Italian Parsley, purple Basil, Sage, German Thyme, Greek Oregano, Apple Mint, Rosemary, Lavender, dill, green onions, marigolds, dianthus, dahlias, begonias, purple wandering hearts, impatiens, purselane, star jasmine, morning glories, violas, coral bells, ajuga, silver leaf, day lilies, creeping Jenny, butterfly w**d, gaura, & wild violas. The sweet potato slips have been started, more flowers & miscellaneous crops have been started in the seed trays, and a bunch of flower bulbs were planted that should come up next Spring. The other 2 raised beds are currently a chaos-garden seed experiment- we’ll see if it turns into some gorgeous chaotic beauty, or if it will become the future home for the plants getting started in the seed trays; either way works for me!
