🏡 Have You Ever Moved a Picture on Your Wood or Log Wall and Found a Lighter Spot Behind It?
That’s called the picture frame effect, and it’s a common problem in log homes and homes with wood wall coverings that haven’t been properly finished!
Over time, UV sunlight and oxidation can change the color of interior wood. The exposed wood sometimes becomes darker or more yellow, while the area protected behind your favorite family photo stays closer to its original color.
Unfortunately, washing the wall or adding another coat of clear finish usually won’t correct the discoloration. In many cases, restoring the original appearance requires sanding and refinishing the affected wall.
The good news? You can help prevent it from happening in the first place!
Sashco’s Colorfast Pre-Stain Base Coat is designed to help prevent wood from yellowing and darkening over time. Follow it with Sashco’s Symphony Interior Clear Coat for a beautiful finish that’s easier to clean and maintain.
Winter is a great time to tackle those interior wood projects!
