We recently wrapped up this kitchen remodel in the Rolling Hills neighborhood, and what a transformation it was!

The original kitchen was long and narrow. It seemed like everyone naturally gathered there, but before long, they’d all be packed in like slices of toast! It simply wasn’t designed for the way this family lives and entertains.

The solution wasn’t just new cabinets and countertops—it started with a thoughtful design.

By listening carefully to our clients’ goals, we developed a plan that relocated the laundry and mechanical room, allowing us to open up the surrounding walls and create a kitchen that’s brighter, more functional, and much more inviting.

𝗣𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗛𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗪𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗲 𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗙𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲

We had the privilege of restoring a truly special home here in Fayetteville—one originally built by Professor John Williams and renowned architect E. Fay Jones.

Time and the Arkansas weather had taken their toll on the home’s signature cantilevered concrete deck and custom wood siding. Water had made its way through the original deck assembly, causing rot in the framing and damaging portions of the siding.

Our goal was to preserve the home’s original character while improving its long-term performance.

To restore the siding, we milled cypress lumber on site to match the original profiles as closely as possible. For the deck, we maintained the original appearance but incorporated modern building techniques. After repairing the structural framing, we installed a robust waterproofing and drainage system beneath the concrete slab to keep water out where it belongs. We then poured a new concrete deck designed to minimize water intrusion, installed a new railing, and finished all of the wood with a fresh coat of stain.

Projects like this remind us that great craftsmanship isn’t just about building something new—it’s about honoring the original design while ensuring it will serve generations to come.
