Every site is different. The existing conditions of a property determine how we approach each project.

For this backyard, we removed the existing crusher fines and rock before adding a healthy amount of amended soil to give the new sod the foundation it needed to establish a healthy root system and thrive. The project was completed with a paver border and a gravel fire pit area to create a clean, functional outdoor space.

Taking the time to prepare the site properly is just as important as the finished installation. ✅

Sometimes improving a yard isn’t about adding more.

It’s about knowing what to keep, what to remove, and how to make the space work better for the homeowner.

This project started because a section of lawn simply wasn’t thriving. Instead of continuing to fight it, we reduced the lawn area and created a cleaner, lower-maintenance landscape that still feels open and inviting.

Fresh 1/2” round gravel, oversized stepping stones, new block edging, drought-tolerant plantings, and a Bubba Desert Willow completely changed how this space functions while giving the homeowner exactly what they were hoping for.

One thing I’ll never take for granted is the trust homeowners place in us.

Every project is an opportunity to create something that not only looks great but also feels like it belongs with the home. That’s something I’m thankful for every single time a homeowner chooses High Desert NativeScapes.

For this project, we removed the existing concrete walkways and installed charcoal pavers in a 45° herringbone pattern with a soldier course border. We also updated the landscape edging throughout the property to create a cleaner, more cohesive look from the front yard to the backyard.

Every project has a detail that stands out a little more than the rest.

For me, it’s the coyote. 🐺

Not necessarily during the day, but in that short window just before sunset when the landscape lighting starts to come on and the sky turns that deep New Mexico blue.

The artificial turf, paver border, moss rock boulders, decorative gravel, and plantings all work together to create the overall design, but something about the lighting and the coyote at dusk just ties everything together.

Those are the moments that make me stop and appreciate how the project came together.
