Sometimes your purpose is obvious to everyone before it becomes obvious to you.

I asked Doron Feller when he knew this was the work he wanted to do.

His answer wasn’t some grand professional revelation.

It was simpler.

He found himself around young inventors—and connecting with them came naturally.

💡 Their ideas.
🧠 Their curiosity.
⚡ Their willingness to imagine something that doesn’t exist yet.

Eventually, the thing Doron was naturally drawn toward became the work itself.

Today, through NextMinds and CT Invention Convention , he helps create space for young people to discover just how powerful their ideas can become.

Sometimes finding your purpose is simply recognizing where you’ve already come alive.

Understanding the true impact of your own work doesn’t happen until you look at through the eyes of those which it serves.

I asked Megan Ramer about the moment she knew this work really mattered to her.

Her answer brought together something powerful:

- Despite her youth at the time, her way with children drove parents to ask her for advice.

- Her professional experience in teaching informed her path, but did not define it.

- When pursuing a hub for her energy, she looked to science center because it served the community.

The interconnectedness of all these things:

🔬 A place to explore.
🌱 A place to grow.
❤️ A place where families experience discovery together.

Because the most meaningful community institutions don’t simply serve people.

They become part of people’s lives.

Your purpose is hiding inside something you thought you lost.

I asked Devontè Dillion | Health & Lifestyle Coach 🌍 when he knew this was the work he was meant to do.

His answer eventually came back to something his mother helped him see:

1️⃣ The energy wasn’t really about fitness. Or being an athlete.
2️⃣ The feeling of losing himself, was the evolution of purpose.
3️⃣ It was about transferring that energy into another person.

⚡ Seeing their potential.
⚡ Helping them see it themselves.
⚡ Watching someone move closer to their purpose.

Fitness was the vehicle.

People were always the destination.

🥇That’s the work.
🥈That’s Devonte.
🥉That’s DT Cares.

Sometimes changing the future starts with remembering exactly how the past felt.

I asked Karen Lott Lott when she knew she wanted to dedicate her life to this work.

Her answer began with her own childhood.

With poverty.

With seeing different possibilities around her.

And eventually, with a decision:

I am going to work with this challenged population.

I am going to give my life to it’s children.

I am going to change the future that others won’t.

Today, Karen leads the Women’s League Child Development Center—intentionally creating the kinds of environments that can alter the trajectory of children and families.

🌱 Change the conditions.
🧠 Change the experience.
❤️ Change what a child believes is possible.

And eventually, you change the future.

Sometimes you find your life’s work by first losing something you love.

I asked Leah Reyes

“When did you know this was the work you wanted to do?”

Her answer took us somewhere much deeper.

❤️ A sister.
❤️ A profound loss.
❤️ And a path toward service that began forming when Leah was still incredibly young.

In life’s defining moments, we find out who we are.

Leah turned what she lost, into what she can give.

Today, that path continues through her work serving people, families and communities with Mercy Housing & Shelter Corporation and SHELDON OAK CENTRAL, INC.

There are careers we choose.

And then there is work that life chooses for us.

🧭 A path of purpose
💐 A career in giving
🌾 A life defined by filling the field

Shifting the trajectory of a community doesn’t happen by changing behaviors later.

It starts by building hope first.

🔹 Conditions create experiences.
🔹 Experiences create beliefs.
🔹 Beliefs create behavior.
🔹 Behavior repeated becomes culture.

Karen Lott is leading the Women’s League CDC in Hartford’s North End to become a cultural institution that builds hope. 🙌🏽

She isn’t simply providing programs for children….

She’s intentionally creating environments where young people experience safety, curiosity, encouragement, and possibility.

- Those experiences shape what they believe about themselves.

- Those beliefs influence the choices they make.

- Those choices become habits.

- And those habits become the future culture of a neighborhood.

It begins when children experience environments that tell them:

“You matter.”
“You belong.”
“Your future is worth investing in.”

Hope isn’t just an emotion.

It’s the belief that tomorrow can be different than today.

Community transformation doesn’t happen by chance.

It happens when leaders have the courage to invest in the conditions that make greatness possible. ♥️

East Hartford is not waiting for its future to arrive.

Its leader is committed to doing the work required to build it.

My conversation with East Hartford Mayor Connor Martin
Mayor Connor Martin reinforced how viable his vision for change is.

📈Development Support drives change and growth.

📉Accountability Standards protect the community.

You need both things.

🏗️ A vision must become a viable plan.
🤝 Businesses, residents and government must establish trust.
📋 Leadership must create accountability around ex*****on.
⏳ And someone must remain committed when progress takes longer than expected.

Transformation is rarely one dramatic decision.
It’s measured. 📏

Development is not measured by what gets announced.
It is measured by what finally gets built. 🏢

Leadership is not measured by wins and losses.
It’s measured by the alignment of the tribe no matter what. 💯
