Such a fun event! Trunk or treaters make their way through the building, out to the garden 🌱 where they collect treats from decorated trunks along the winding path. The journey ends in the gym, I mean laser swamp. 🎃

In our class last night, we learned about sheet mulching, and then put that information to work. This is probably the last extension of our garden area for the season. As usual, failed to take the before photo, but presumably you’ve seen an area of grass and weeds before. This new garden section will have a cover crop in the short term, and will be winter sown as a nursery bed for perennial seeds we’ve collected. 🌱

In other news, our shed stands again! Thanks to this lovely crew who transformed it from a pile of parts for a second time! Check out our last post for the before photos. 👷🏼‍♂️🥳

We had such a lovely time making these mini flower arrangements to share some cheer from our garden with others. 💐

In other news - hope everyone is faring well! As you can see, yesterday's storm caused us a bit of damage. It also took out one of the two sunflower plants we had that the deer didn't eat. Luckily, we hadn't gotten too far in the project of filling our new shed. Thanks to the many crews out in our communities to help with the damage.

Join us for our garden gathering tonight (9/2/26) at 6:00. We'll be making mini flower arrangements to share some love with others, enjoying a meal together (recipe highlight in the photos), and reflecting on some pieces from Wendell Berry.

Come in through the main parking lot. There's a drive at the end of the parking lot that will take you around back to the garden. (At St John Lutheran Church Farmington Hills - 23225 Gill rd.)

New garden and a sign of hope, renewal, and new beginnings. 👩‍🌾🌈😊

Can never remember to take the before photos! We extended the garden area in the last photo further back towards the corner of the building. We will be extending the perennial garden and sowing so so many sunflowers of so many varieties. 💜🌱🌞🌻😄
