Many houses have a corner nobody knows what to do with.

Finished on the left, before on the right. Same corner. The dark dated bar and the busy mirrored backsplash came out, and in went green painted cabinetry, glass-fronted uppers, open shelving and a small sink.

The most satisfying projects are often not whole-room gut jobs. Sometimes it is one corner.

The biggest expense in a bathroom renovation usually is not the part you can see.

It is not the tile. It is not the plumbing fixtures. More often it is the decision to move something, like relocating a shower to where the toilet is, so the layout can actually work the way you want to use the room.

A change like that is worth it. It also brings in significant trades, so it has to be intentional and planned well before demolition starts rather than decided partway through.

Decisions like this one shape how the room works every day, which is exactly why they deserve the time up front.

A little preparation can make a first design meeting more useful.

Five things that help us understand you quickly:

1. What is not working now. Photograph the rooms as they actually are, clutter included.
2. What must stay or be stored. The things that are not negotiable.
3. Inspiration with notes. Not just the images, but what you like about each one.
4. The rooms that matter most, in order.
5. Budget, timing, and the questions you want answered.

Bring those five and the first conversation can get specific faster.

The butler's pantry had a job beyond storage on this project.

It is where the two wood tones in the kitchen resolve against each other, along with the rest of the finishes. Get that small room wrong and an open plan starts reading as two competing kitchens instead of one.

On this project we used Crystal Cabinetry and Caesarstone.

The homeowners knew something was wrong in this primary bathroom and could not name it.

It was an awkwardly angled wall. Straightening it meant reframing the bedroom entry and rerouting plumbing through a concrete slab to support the new layout.

That structural work is what made the new layout possible.

Dedicated storage, built for specific things.

A center island for folding and laying things out. A chandelier rather than a single ceiling fixture. Glass-fronted cabinetry sized for jewelry, for handbags, and for shoes, each behind its own doors.

Making items visible can make them easier to find and use.

In our experience, remodel regret often traces back to a decision nobody made out loud.

Five we work through before anything gets drawn:

1. Which problems are we actually solving. Not the wish list, the daily friction.
2. What will still matter in five years. How long you are staying changes what is worth spending on.
3. Where custom earns its keep, and where it does not.
4. What the true priority is, for when the budget cannot cover everything.
5. Who owns every handoff between design and construction.

Working through these five tends to make the decisions that follow easier.
