There's going to be a knock on your door this summer.
A guy with a clipboard. Out-of-state plates on the truck. "We were just in the neighborhood and noticed some damage on your roof…"
Here's what I want you to know before you answer that door.
My name is Clay Blair and I own Vita Roofing. We're based right here in Fargo–Moorhead.
Every storm season, crews roll through town from a few states away. They knock doors. They write fast. They throw up a roof in a day.
And by the time the first leak shows up that winter? They're gone. Different town. Different state. A phone number that goes straight to voicemail.
You're left with a roof nobody stands behind… and a warranty that isn't worth the paper it's printed on.
We do it different. We live here. We’re involved in the community. If something's wrong with your roof, you call us and we actually pick up.
So before you let a stranger climb up on your house… let someone local take a look first.
It's free. No pressure. And if your roof's fine, we'll tell you it's fine.
Simple.

We read every review that comes in.

The line that stood out from this one:

"We always knew what was going on."

A roof replacement is a big investment. Homeowners deserve updates, answers, and transparency from start to finish.

CASE FILE #003: THE INSIDE JOB

The shingles looked fine from the street.

The roof wasn't even that old.

But it was wearing out fast and the homeowner couldn't figure out why.

So we went looking.

Not on top of the roof.

Underneath it.

In the attic.

That's where the real story was.

Because a roof isn't just a lid on your house.

It's a system that has to breathe — cool air in along the eaves, hot damp air out at the peak.

When that airflow gets blocked, the attic turns into an oven in summer and a sweat box in winter.

And all that trapped heat and moisture does its damage from a direction nobody checks.

From below.

The shingles get cooked from the back side.

The wood deck soaks up moisture it can't shed.

And the roof quietly ages years ahead of the number on the label.

A roof doesn't always fail because of what hits it.

Sometimes it fails because of what it can't let go of.

CASE FILE #002: THE USUAL SUSPECTS

The homeowner noticed a water stain on the ceiling.

The leak should've been easy to find.

It wasn't.

The shingles looked fine.

The roof wasn't old.

Nothing obvious was missing.

But like a lot of leak investigations, the answer wasn't in the middle of the roof.

It was hiding around the details.

A chimney.

A skylight.

The places where roofing materials meet something else.

That's where water likes to test a roof first.

Not because the roof is failing.

Because every seal, flashing detail, and pe*******on spends years expanding, contracting, freezing, thawing, and moving.

Eventually, one small gap appears.

And water only needs one.

Case #001: The Disappearing Shingle.

Here's something you probably never look at until there's a stain on the ceiling, the top of your own roof!

Shingles don't fail all at once. They wear from the top down: the granules (that gritty top layer) slowly wash off, the mat underneath gets exposed, and from there the sun and water do the rest. Here in the Red River Valley wind, hail, ice dams, freeze-thaw, spring storms etc all that clock just runs faster.

If your roof has been up there a while, odds are it's already dropping hints. A few granules in the gutter. A curling edge. A shingle that quietly went missing.

The good news: none of this is an emergency if you catch it early. We'll come take an honest look free, no pressure, no scare tactics. Just a straight answer on how your roof is actually doing.

⛈️ Storm season is here

A little preparation now can help you avoid a much bigger headache later.

Before/After the next storm rolls through:
✔️ Check your attic for water stains
✔️ Look for shingle pieces in your yard
✔️ Clean out your gutters
✔️ Take a quick look for curled or damaged shingles

Often times roof problems start small and stay hidden until heavy rain finds them.

If you're not sure what you're looking at, send us a message or give us a call before it is too late!

Most roofing problems don't start with the shingles, they start with what's beneath them.

Standard roofs rely on shingles alone.

The Klaus Roofing System protects your home from the deck up with waterproof blue seam tape, advanced synthetic underlayment, and leak-proof valley barriers.

It's the difference between a roof that looks good and one that actually keeps water out for the long haul.

Every Klaus System install is backed by our 50-Year Klaus Promise. Do it once, do it right.

We're proud to serve homeowners across the Fargo-Moorhead area with free, no-pressure roof inspections.

Most roofs look pretty similar from the street.

But once you tear them open… you realize they’re absolutely not built the same.

A lot of roofs are installed to hit the minimum.
Minimum materials. Minimum protection. Minimum lifespan.

The Klaus Roofing System is the opposite approach.

Every layer has a job:
✔️ Deck tape that seals vulnerable plywood seams
✔️ Synthetic underlayment that won’t wrinkle or absorb water
✔️ Ice & water protection where leaks actually happen
✔️ Class 4 shingles built for hail and brutal Midwest weather
✔️ Installation details most contractors skip entirely

And when it all works together, you get something most homeowners actually want:

Less stress.

Less worrying during storms.

Less chance of dealing with leaks, insurance headaches, or replacing another roof 15 years from now.

That’s why every Klaus system we install is backed by a 50-year no-leak warranty that transfers with the house.

This carousel breaks down exactly what’s underneath the shingles — and why it matters way more than most people realize.

Swipe through it. 👉

Roof decking may be out of sight, but it’s one of the most important parts of your roof!

It’s the solid surface that holds your shingles and helps protect your home’s structure. Reinforcing the roof deck is a core part of every Klaus Roofing System, giving homeowners added confidence in their roof’s overall strength and performance. 👏
