Let’s talk about deposits and payment schedules for a minute.
We see a lot of comments telling homeowners to never give a large deposit or to only put down a small amount when hiring a company for a project.
Here’s something we think more people should understand.
When a business takes on a major remodeling project, there can be thousands of dollars invested before the work even begins. Materials need purchased, crews need scheduled, subcontractors need coordinated, and equipment may need rented.
So what happens if a customer cancels at the last minute after all those commitments have been made?
Should the business be expected to absorb all those costs?
We believe both sides should have skin in the game.
Not every project is the same. Some require an upfront deposit, while larger projects may involve a deposit with scheduled draws or payments based on completed milestones.
It’s not about asking customers to take all the risk. It’s about making sure neither side has to.
We absolutely encourage homeowners to do their research, check references, verify insurance, and get everything in writing. There are bad contractors out there, just like there are customers who don’t hold up their end of an agreement.
Trust, communication, and accountability should go BOTH ways.
At Bullseye Building Solutions, we take our commitments seriously, and we believe a fair payment structure is part of running a responsible business.
We’re here to build relationships just as much as we’re here to build and improve homes.
