AK recently performed over 5000 SF of concrete removal using hydrodemolition in just a few days. For this project in Pennsylvania, we used our Aquajet North America 710 Robot paired with a Hammelmann GmbH - Pumps and Systems pump to remove deteriorated concrete from the vertical and overhead surfaces of a drainage culvert. Work was completed in one pass, taking off the bad and leaving the good.

Scope of Work: At AK, we pride ourselves on our creative solutions. We recently completed a project in Nebraska, where crews performed hydrodemolition at depths of up to 8” on a dam structure.

Challenge: This was a very rural location. How do we cost effectively get potable water to the high-pressure pump, and how do we dispose of the used water?

The solution: AK set up a series of pumps and filters to utilize water from the reservoir for supply. Then, using our Aquajet North America EcoClear water filtration system, AK was also able to treat the used water to such an extent that it could be safely released back into the environment.

In March, AK began work on a dam in Nebraska, utilizing our Aquajet North America 710 Robot and Hammelmann GmbH - Pumps and Systems 803 high pressure pump. The crew has been removing concrete from existing construction joints of the spillway down to a depth of 8". This process removes the deteriorating concrete but leaves the rebar intact and ready for new concrete.

On this project, AK is using water from the nearby lake. The AK team set up a specialized filter system to ensure the water is clean enough to process through the high-pressure pump. Crews then contain and collect the used water and filter it with our Aquajet EcoClear system. After, they discharge the clean water back to the pumps and/or back to the waterway.
