We know many of our customers are noticing early spring weeds popping up, and we appreciate your patience! Due to lingering winter weather, we started our program two weeks later than usual, and now heavy rainfall is pushing back our second round of treatments. With unseasonably warm temps and abnormally high precipitation, everything is growing rapidly.

Right now, our focus is on strong spring growth. If your grass is lush, green, and growing quickly, your lawn is in good shape! The early weeds may be an eyesore, but they’re temporary—our upcoming Round 2 treatment includes blanket herbicides and is designed to eliminate them.

Once applied, our post-emergent herbicides should take care of any emergent weeds within 2 weeks.
No need to call or request additional service currently—we’ll be out as soon as weather conditions allow. Thanks for your patience, and we look forward to keeping your lawn looking its best!

Hello,
We wanted to alert our customers to a threat to lawns that has recently emerged: the fall armyworm. This destructive pest can cause damage to your lawn in a very short period of time, sometimes overnight.

What You Need to Know: Fall armyworms are caterpillars that feed aggressively on grass, leaving behind brown patches and large bare spots. They are particularly active in the late summer and early fall, and their rapid feeding can turn a healthy lawn into a damaged one almost instantly.

Local Alert: As of the end of last week, we have confirmed numerous active armyworm infestations in the local area. This means that the threat to your lawn is real, and action may be necessary to protect it if you see signs of damage.

Signs of Fall Armyworm Damage:
Brown or scorched-looking patches in your lawn
Grass blades chewed down to the ground
Increased bird activity on your lawn, as they feed on the caterpillars
We encourage you to inspect your lawn regularly for these signs. If you suspect fall armyworm damage, please contact us immediately. Early detection may prevent widespread damage.

Our Solution: Alpha Organics offers a curative application specifically designed to stop the spread of fall armyworms. However, it's important to note that any turf already damaged by these pests will likely need to be reseeded this fall.

We would like to acknowledge the extended period of high temperatures and drought currently impacting our area. These conditions can significantly affect the health and appearance of your lawn, especially fescue, which is a cool-season grass.

To help your lawn endure these challenging conditions, we recommend the following watering schedule:

Water your lawn 2-3 times per week in the early morning hours. This helps to minimize water loss due to evaporation.
Aim to provide a total of 1-1.5 inches of water per week. This can be achieved through your watering efforts combined with any natural rainfall we may receive.

Please be aware that during this period, fescue grass may show signs of stress, such as browning or thinning. It is also normal for fescue to enter a period of dormancy during the summer months, where it may appear less vibrant. Rest assured, this is a natural response to the heat and drought, and your lawn should recover when cooler temperatures return and adequate moisture is restored.
