🏡 A Moroccan-Inspired Escape, Steps from an 1890s Home
This patio transformation began back in 2023, when our client came to us with a vision: create a warm, Moroccan-inspired entertaining space that would stand in beautiful contrast to her historic 1890s home. Working alongside the project's architect and interior designer, we helped bring that vision to life as part of a larger home renovation.
To capture the warmth and texture our client wanted, we laid two tones of square terra-cotta pavers in an alternating pattern, bordered by black pavers for definition. In-ground plantings were traded for decorative planters in cool, contrasting tones, filled with lush, colorful plantings that shift with the seasons.
Since our client plans to entertain well into the evening, lighting became a key part of the design. Overhead bistro lights connect the roof deck to the yard below, casting ambient light across the stairs and patio, while well lights wash the east wall to highlight the yard's original brick and add warmth after dark.
The result is a private, character-filled extension of the home's indoor living space, built for gathering, entertaining, and enjoying golden-hour evenings outside.
We're grateful to our client for welcoming us into this project and trusting our team to blend old-world charm with a whole new way to entertain. ✨
