We performed a "serious" upgrade to the solar power system at Seabird Key in 2023. Now we do an annual maintenance trip. This year, I replaced the two Schneider XW+ inverters with the newest XW Pro versions. Seabird's visitors should enjoy uninterrupted power for the foreseeable future.

This is a new build house that includes a utility meter for the peripherals and a solar off-grid "apartment" that is not subject to grid interruptions or failure. One AC is grid powered and cools 60% of the house. The other is powered by the solar system and cools the resilient part of the house. These projects comprise a major part of our work. Cool.

It is January 2025 and we are experiencing REAL winter. This image shows the water temperature at the BOTTOM of a 119 gal hot water tank heated by the sun and assisted by a wood fired boiler that also heats an off grid house in southern middle Tennessee. No grid connection. Independent living at its best!

It snowed this morning and this picture was taken in the late afternoon after a zero solar harvest. Note how the snow begins to melt and slides off the modules and piles up on the roof. It will freeze hard there and tomorrow will likely be another zero day. However, the owner of the ground mounted array came out early and cleared his array. This is just one of the reasons we prefer GROUND mounted solar arrays. Same snow and these two arrays are no more than a few hundred yards apart.

The owner incorporated a stand-alone power system into his new house. The essential parts of it will always be powered - even in an extended grid outage. The thermal collectors for his solar water heater are to the left of the solar array. Black roof, black modules. You could easily miss them.

What do you think about this? I live off-grid and install solar systems daily, so I naturally see things from a solar perspective. But my background includes 20 years in the electric utility industry. This data blows my mind!

We have been associated with the SimpliPhi Lithium battery since their introduction. The product has only gotten better since they were acquired by Briggs & Stratton. It is amazing to watch this technology develop and we are pleased to be associated with such a known and respected product!
