That gray pipe may look harmless… but it has a history. 👀💧

The pipe in these pictures is polybutylene, a material once used in many homes before production stopped in the 1990s due to repeated failure issues and lawsuits. The problem is that it can weaken over time, especially around fittings and connections, and may look completely fine until it suddenly leaks. 😬

If you see gray piping like this in your home, it is worth having it checked before it turns into water damage.
