I've been in Texas for 2 years now and I have a question, why do Texans like to wear jeans, cowboy boots and cowboy hats so much?

This is the answer someone wrote back and I think this is a very good answer. Just thought a good share:

The things you mentioned Texans wearing are all mostly utilitarian:

1. Jeans are tough, and protective if you’re working with barbed wire fencing or baling wire, or cattle (they will stick you with their horns).

2. Boots are also protective against all sorts of prickly cacti, bull-nettles, and scorpions, snakes, tons of things you wouldn’t want to deal with in lesser footwear.

3. Hats are mainly protection from the sun and its glare now, although years ago cowboys would use them to scoop water from a stream among other things.

There is also a non-utilitarian reason some Texans wear cowboy clothes: their Dads, granddads, uncles, friends, etc dress this way. It’s what a man looks like because that’s our culture.
