This is a Duplex project located in Eugene OR. The client pushed it in a direction that isn't as "modern" as some of our recent projects. I actually appreciate that challenge and the outcome most of the time.

BACK TO THE BURG UPDATE…��This project consists of a small new house and carport situated on the top of a hill overlooking Melrose Oregon. Melrose is a small community that is part of the city of Roseburg.

I am teaming up with Jennifer Jackson on this project.

The project has evolved and is under construction. We have a great team who are thoughtful and talented.

BACK TO THE BURG…��This project consists of a small new house and carport situated on the top of a hill overlooking Melrose Oregon. Melrose is a small community that is part of the city of Roseburg.

I attended Melrose Elementary school from 2nd grade through 6th grade.

I am teaming up with Jennifer Jackson on this project.

Jennifer and I went to elementary school together and lived near each other on Fisher Road in Roseburg. Jennifer and I played together as kids and got poison oak together once that covered both of us thoroughly. I was chasing her at school once when I ran into a garbage container and ended up with stitches on my head.

Jennifer and her husband Mike live in Roseburg. She has an extensive background in Interior Design and owns Jackson Hill Design.

The vaulted great room of this house will look towards the view. Bedrooms are positioned towards the south with private connections to the natural landscape. The carport will have a roof deck that also overlooks the view and is positioned to get the west and south light.

We are excited to do this project and I will try to keep the project up to date on its process here on this page.

MODERN IN THE MEADOW

This project consists of three new structures, a House, a Greenhouse and a Garage/Workspace.

The house sits on the south edge of a hill looking down to a new pond. The Main room is vaulted with wrapped walls of windows. A large Kitchen connects the house to the south yard. Next to the Kitchen is a Work room, a Laundry room and the public Bathroom. A large Master Bedroom Suite with views to the north sits pushed forward of the Main Room. A Guest Bedroom with access to the rear porch is located at the end of the Hall.

A small Greenhouse is located in the center of the property with views down to the river below.

The Second Garage with a Second Floor Workspace is located to the east of the Greenhouse.

All of the structures are carefully composed with large windows and overhangs that reach towards the views. The language of shed and flat roofs together with simple forms is repeated in each of the buildings.

A ROOM WITH A VIEW- EUGENE, OR

This project consists of renovating the ground floor and adding a second floor to an existing one story house. The hallway and stairwell is the most important part of the layout. It allows for all of the other pieces to exist.

The First Floor improvements include expanding the footprint of the Kitchen, adding a Dining Room that connects to the outside garden, and improving general circulation and natural lighting.

The new Second Floor, consists of a Master Bedroom Suite with a wrapping view of the city, a Sitting room with a connection to a new post and beam designed covered back Porch and also another Bedroom with it’s own Bathroom and a bay window niche.

All of this can occur because of the careful positioning of the vertical circulation of the new stairwell. The careful attention to proportions and detailing throughout allows the finished product to feel as if it has been there all along.
