🚧 MISSION ACCOMPLISHED. 🚧
Overnight, C-Hawkk crews worked through rain, darkness, and changing conditions to successfully close both eastbound and westbound I-70 through downtown Topeka as scheduled and on time.
This closure marks the beginning of the next major phase of the I-70 Polk-Quincy Viaduct Project, one of the most significant transportation infrastructure projects currently underway in Kansas.
Working alongside our project partners, Bettis Construction and Koss Construction, our team helped prepare and implement the traffic control and detour systems necessary to safely transition traffic and allow construction to move forward.
⚠️ The closure is expected to remain in place until December as work continues on the new alignment, structures, and roadway improvements.
If your travels take you through the Topeka area:
✔ Follow all posted detour routes
✔ Allow extra travel time
✔ Stay alert in work zones
✔ Use caution when traveling through the corridor
A special thank you to our crews and project partners who worked through challenging weather conditions to make this transition happen safely and successfully.
