Sadly this happens in SW Florida every day. Anytime your Service Call seems extremely low (under $50.00) buyer beware. I've heard story after story from customers of this practice happening. They often show up in an unmarked vehicle and have aggressive sales tactics. I've seen it happen personally, as well. My daughter's friend was locked out of her car at FGCU, she googled my company, sadly she didn't realize she clicked on an ad instead. The man arrives, she realized it wasn't me she had called (they often misrepresent themselves on the phone) and he tells her it's going to be $175. She franticly calls my daughter knowing she was being scammed and was afraid because the man would not leave without payment. Even though he had not done any work. My daughter arrived and with her knowledge of these scams, asked for his business license and proceed to run him off before I arrived on site. Thankfully this situation was resolved with a good outcome. However it's typically not the case. Always ask for a quote of the work you need done. If they are unwilling or unable to give you a quote before they arrive, then it's time to call someone else.
To insure this doesn't happen to you, save my number 239-839-8368 under Locksmith / Dave.
You can then know you will receive the quality service and professionalism you deserve.
If you're locked out of your house or car, choosing the first locksmith you see on a Google search is not a good idea. That's because it's usually an ad for $15 or $19 service call but will end up costing you hundreds.
