Here it is. Our hillside basketball court! We built a 2nd story Trex deck with a spiral staircase and Trex Rain Escape a couple years ago, but it left them with a small yard. The homeowner is really into basketball, so we built them a literal basketball court on their hillside. As you can see they are huge San Antonio Sours fans, so that was incorporated into the sport court design. Let us know what you think!

We built a basketball court on a hillside! A couple years ago we built a 2nd story Trex deck for this client, but it left them with a small yard. They are really into basketball, so we extended their yard and built them a literal basketball court on their hillside. It was built with a Trex deck topped with a sport court. Post open heart surgery update: I survived. I had the surgery on the 12th and it went very well. I had a previously unknown birth defect where I was born with a bicuspid valve on my aorta (2 flaps instead of 3). This led to an enlarged aorta, or artic aneurysm. They only found this because my stomach somehow navigated up through my diaphragm and got lodged upside down behind my heart. That put pressure on my heart when I ate and caused the docs to look at my heart & find the issues. I had the stomach surgery on April 17th & then open heart surgery on May 12th where they installed a mechanical valve and repaired the aneurysm. Both surgeries went very well. I should be going home within a day or two, but the pain from this is unlike anything I've ever experienced. 10 out of 10 do not recommend. LoL I have my chest tubes out & my chest wires out. Just waiting for certain blood markers before I can go home and begin a rough 6-8 week rehab program. Thanks for all of your thoughts; prayers, messages, meals on the meal train for my family (it's on my personal page), and for the donations on the meal train. My family has been overwhelmed by the support. Thank you again from Brittany, Reagan; Reese, and me.

Life has been chaotic with the upcoming open heart surgery and hernia surgery, but there have been some very cool things also happening. I realized I only posted stories of this, so here is our biggest engineering feat for a deck project. Due to a big slope and erosion issues this project required caissons, tie backs, working around existing footings, and over 40 yards of concrete just for the footings! It was insane!

It is a Timbertech Azek Vintage deck with a Feeney cable railing, and tons of Trex lighting. The entire deck also has a Trex Rain Escape water system, which even goes down the stairs and to the lower deck (watch the video to see some of that). In the end we were able to build them a beautiful deck with an even more beautiful view!

Our latest Trex spa deck with Outdeco privacy panels and a custom planter. The decking is the new Trex Select Whiskey Barrel. The spa was recessed with a 3 sided masonry wall to allow for drainage. The Outdeco panels were installed vertically with Trex Wedge lights. And the front cover over the spa is removable for potential spa repairs.

Our 3rd and final NADRA Deck of the Year Award! It won 1st Place for Best Pool Deck. This is a special one for us as it was easily the most difficult deck we've ever done. It is a waterfall deck. And that seems to be confusing a lot of people, so be on the lookout for next month's Deck Specialist Magazine as they are doing a feature article on us and this project where we explain in detail what a waterfall deck is and how to build one. It has nothing to do with water! It's us taking a deckboard and turning it 90 degrees at the edge. Like mitering 2 boards together, but it's only 1 board! Look closely at the close up photos. It took a ton of precision, but our crew somehow pulled it off! Thanks to for this award and thanks to for letting everyone know about our project! This is the 2nd of our 3 NADRA Deck of the Year Awards (our industry version of the Academy Awards). This one was for the show display we built in Las Vegas at IBS (International Builder Show) for Old Castle/Moistureshield/Barrette Outdoor Living/RDI Railing/Belgard Pavers. This is actually our 3rd year in a row building their Las Vegas IBS Display. It won 1st Place 3 years ago and won 3rd Place this year for Best Product Display! We also did the Old Castle logo as an inlay at the entrance of the booth. We were honored Old Castle trusted us to build their booth again and we are proud their trust was rewarded with another NADRA Award! And I want to give a shout out to my guys who traveled to Las Vegas and worked crazy hours to get this done. Leo Vargas, Danny Fraser, Teo Vazquez, Pedro Sanchez, Chris Vargas, and Pablo Olvera!
