Okay, totally not construction related, but I love how amazing these rhododendrons look for like two weeks out of the year, just wish they kept blooming all summer! But the bees have claimed these as their early feasting grounds, during the day, get close to these and it sounds like a bee hive up in there! lol

This one was delayed until the insurance claim was resolved, but think it’s a good lesson for anyone running a small business out there, rain is coming, you will need a financial umbrella at times!

And just like that, this patio is painted blue and ready to be exposed in the am! :-) Love the new fire pit extension!

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT!!!!

CHECK YOUR FURNACE FILTER

First, we are not an hvac contractor, this is just our observations, consult a professional for specific concerns.

That being said, I am sharing from our experiences when “cooling season” starts up. This one happened to be from a member of our family that my hvac contractor replaced their furnace and A/C unit awhile back. They were experiencing a lack of adequate cooling with the hot temperatures today and wondered if there may be something wrong with the new unit.

My first question in these situations: How long has it been since you last changed your furnace filter!!???

What I have seen so many times at the start of cooling season is a lack of cooling due to a clogged furnace filter. This is like you trying to breath through a thick towel or cloth, it don’t work out so well for you, nor does a clogged filter work for you furnace unit.

What can happen is the outside unit literally ices up, and the fan cannot adequately “get rid of the heat” that it took out of the house.

What I have done with folks I know in these cases, have them check their filter that usually looks like a lint filter in dryer you forgot existed. Turn the furnace off for a couple hours or more so the iced up fins can melt. Then when they turn it back on, hopefully the a/c is blowing cold again! :-)

Most hvac folks I know recommend a 90 day max filter change. I honestly do the first of every month, but we also have an older home and a golden retriever that sheds…. LOL I buy them in bulk and keep a box of filters that come wrapped in plastic in our storage.

Then set a reminder on your phone to change the filter, you already have the filters ready, swap it, and filter maintenance is easy peasy! :-)

Remember, your home, systems in your home, concrete, siding, etc…. All need some TLC! These are not maintenance free items. Don’t be caught with a dirty furnace filter!!!

Have a great weekend everyone!!!
