Whether we do the work for you or you hire someone else, we want to see the work be done right! Here are a few good things to talk with your electrician about.
Are they licensed and insured? Please verify.
Do you backstab your outlets? (We did another post on the dangers and laziness of this. Check it out!)
Do you put fire alarms on their own circuit?
Do you tie outlets to the lighting?
Copper or aluminum? It's good to know the differences.
Copper is a better conductor.
Aluminum can be a fire hazard.
Do you have an apprentice doing the work and if so is the work being done correctly/monitored by journeyman or master? We often see companies hiring apprentices to do the work with no supervision and the work is not checked.
Get a detailed proposal with price and material provided. Please ask what brands are being used if this is not provided in the quote.
