As 2024 comes to a close, we've made the challenging decision to close our doors. As of 1-1-25 - Leawood, LLC will no longer be continuing operations and shutting down.

We sincerely appreciate all the support and business you have provided. These changes are being made to allow us to move forward in a positive direction. A couple hurricane resilient plants in our personal landscape to make note of. First the Jamaican caper and then the native dwarf clusia. These plants have been subjected to the worst of it other than surge flooding and seem to be almost completely unharmed.

The Jamaican caper is very slow growing and requires little to no care. The blooms are incredible and unique looking.

The dwarf clusia is another that requires minimal care, maybe some hand pruning to keep its shape.

Power & internet have been restored! Chickens are safe! We have some serious landscape cleanup to do, but we are happy to report we have no water inside our home. ”Many homeowners view this as a turfgrass w**d, but in fact, it is a wonderful groundcover that can add any appeal to a landscape.

Fogfruit grows in full sun to partial shade and prefers to well-drained to partially drained soils, but does like regular moisture. This can be used a low-growing groundcover, in some cases as an alternative to turfgrass.

Do not be surprised if you find multiple caterpillar species munching on Fogfruit. It is an important host plant for a few different butterfly species.

Notes: mowing improves it. Larval food plant for many butterflies. ” Dr. Taylor Clem

Did you know that monarchs can fly between 50-100 miles PER DAY?! That’s an amazing task for a such a small and delicate butterfly, don’t you think? 🦋

This beautiful specimen emerged from its chrysalis this morning at our property. This is our own picture, not one stolen from Google like all these other “businesses”. 😒

We have several different plantings that help to attract, feed, and help shelter these beautiful specimens so they can thrive to their fullest extent!
