No shortage of work or sunrises in the near future.

Right back in it with some trim, stair work, and kitchen install. Heading there soon to router oak skirts for glass panels. Then I'm ready for the next set of cabinets Monday.

My extra time is pretty much gone, but I'll continue to take care of my few clients that took care of me.

Most people wait until their sliding door is grinding before they even think about the track.

Paraffin wax has been the go-to lubricant for cabinet drawers and window sashes for over a century. It's the same waxy block you find in the canning aisle, and it works on a sliding door track for the same reason it works on a wood drawer slide: it leaves a thin, dry, slick film that won't collect dust the way oils and silicones do. The American Window and Door Institute lists paraffin as one of two safe lubricants for vinyl-frame patio doors (the other being dry silicone).

A plain white dollar-store candle does the same job as a $6 block of canning wax. Vacuum the track first. Then press the candle against the metal U-channel and drag it firmly along the full length, twice. You want a chalky white smear of coverage. Open and close the door five times to polish the wax into a glaze under the rollers.

Avoid colored or scented candles. The dyes and fragrance oils stain light-colored flooring near the threshold and can attract more dust than they prevent.

Reapply twice a year, or whenever the slide feels slightly stiffer than the week before. Five minutes of prevention now beats an entire afternoon fighting a seized track later. [WFPQR]

Light colors but nice contrast. Anything but white on white. Wood countertops give plenty of natural vibes. 🤘

Till the shiplap covers all.

Finished up back and front porch ceilings, added some lights, and redid a bunch of the wall/fireplace unit in new trim and paint.

-This Project

Working on a library design. 12x14 room with big arch window getting 8' bookcase and cabinets on 3 walls. Offset shelving while maintaining symmetry. Some cool features will be added as well as lighting, to amp up the ambiance and "wow" factor.

Most clients don't want to decipher graph paper drawings, and doodles. That's why I give 3d details to give someone the assurance on their vision and the confidence to move forward with home upgrades.

Had to take the day to get caught up on some little stuff I've been putting off for a week or so.

The usual Florida bottom rot that comes with T111 siding.

If you know someone with some bottom rot on their home that's in pushing it off let them know The Modern Artisans can deal with the problem with an efficient and budget friendly solution.

Also did a little bit of soffit repair. The usual problem, the builder saving $100 in 2x4 material that should have wrapped the perimeter of the wall for backing that would prevent the soffit from being able to blow up into the Attic.

Not my favorite thing to do but if you have a little bit that needs to get done I'm there 🤘

A long memorial day weekend camping backed me up a little bit. Plus my helper finally went and got a real job. That means, as usual, I'm back to doing the work of two people by myself. I make it look easier than it should.

Should be done with the porch ceilings tomorrow. Then on to some updates on the back porch entertainment center.
