We are big supporters of whole house fans at NetZero Insulation. We are a licensed installer for AirScape whole house fans. They are a great supplement to air conditioning. With a properly insulated home and a whole house fan you can shrink your electric bills substantially during the summer.

That being said the old style of whole house fans are not efficient and open your home to several problems. The chief complaint that they are open windows to the attic with no airtight seal or insulation value. This leads to a whole host of problems. Compare the two included pictures of old vs new and don't make fun of our photoshop skills! 😉I'll have a video going live on whole house fans soon!

This is a garage to living project we fixed last week. Not much of a thermal boundary established for the 2nd story! The empty floor cavities are in the top of the frame and uninsulated. They insulated the garage ceiling only. We removed the Tecate b**r can free of charge.

Reach out to NetZero Insulation for all your insulation and air sealing needs.

We LOVE turn of the century homes and retrofitting them. Each one is different and you never know what your going to find. This split removal is a great example of why removing existing insulation is best practice for air sealing work. You can see the little chases we sealed up in addition to the normal items. This customer was having an air conditioner installed in the home. We came out the day before the install and removed all the insulation so the AC company could have free reign and better working conditions. After the AC install was complete, we came back to air seal and insulate the attic.

If you have a similar project or have questions please reach out to us. NetZero Insulation is here to help!

We hope everyone had a great 4th of July weekend.

We wanted to share one of our projects from Friday. This is a garage to living that we fixed. You can see the gap between the insulation and the 2nd story floor. This is the main reason rooms over garages are warmer and colder than the rest of the house. Insulation has to be touching whatever its trying to insulate. We air seal and fill those cavities to resolve this.

Have a hot or cold room above your garage? Reach out to NetZero Insulation.

Yesterdays project in Centennial provided a great visual for air leakage. Insulation doesn't stop air movement. When air passes through insulation it can act as a filter. In our project pictures from the day your going to see tons of black dust and dirt from all the air moving between the attic and conditioned space. Air sealing and insulation are two peas in a pod!

Todays project had an unexpected surprise. Typical ranch style home that was close to 1,100 sq ft. NetZero Insulation performed an insulation removal, air sealed the attic and then reinsulated. You may notice in the pictures we left a passageway through the insulation. This is not normal! While doing the insulation removal we discovered a sanitary vent pipe that was not connected to the roof vent. So we left access for a contractor and we will come back and finishing blowing insulation when that work is complete.
