Why is gravel and dirt so expensive to be delivered people have been asking. Well here is a general break down.

Fuel: $300-$500 a day

Payment: $1000-3500 a month depending on the truck

Driver pay: $20-$25 hourly (upto 250-300 a day)

Regular Maintenance: .35 cents per mile roughly

Insurance: $700-$1000 a month

Break downs: can be 5-6 figures easily.

Fuel tax: quarterly and can be in the high thousands

Yearly plates and registration: $2000+ per truck for us

Tires are $400-$1400 a piece depending on size, drive or steer etc.

There’s a few more but all this hits before the owner/company even sees a dime. So when you see someone saying that dump truck owners need $200 minimums on load delivery and more the further it goes or that we need $150 an hour minimum to run it’s not because we are being greedy it’s because at the end of the day it takes an astronomical amount of money to keep these trucks up and running safely and efficiently while we still have to make a living as well at the end of the day.
