Happy Friday! Now that’s what I call a multi-use build lol

When I built this tiered planter, I pictured it full of plants. Apparently, I should’ve included “elevated cat bed” in the description.

Somebody claimed the top tier, and judging by that nap, I’d say it passed the comfort test.

Plants on the bottom, supervisor on the top. This one’s clearly taking the Friday shift pretty easy.

What’s on your shop list this weekend?

Get up. Get out. Get your build on!

I never knew
A home
could feel so thankful
I suppose a coat
is fit
As colder days and snow
Are soon to arrive
Think of the peace of mind
The security
of stoping damage in its tracks

***Polaris blue is the color***

Slightly muted, refined character.

The three 60 foot lifts have made the dead-line far more realistic.

Naturalistic Pondside Planting Scheme

I propose a bio-drainage landscape design that creates a "green wall" effect. It features tall bamboo and hybrid willows forming a dense, living backdrop, fronted by plantings of vetiver, Russian sage, golden honeysuckle, baccharis, and saltbush. The result is a lush, multi-textured wall of greenery that serves as both a natural water filter and a privacy screen—ideal for Cleveland landscapes, where both drainage and visual appeal are important.

Back Layer (Screening & Structure)

Plants:

Bamboo
Hybrid Willows

Function:

Evergreen/structural backdrop
Wind protection
Vertical screening
Creates a lush green wall similar to the image

Middle Layer (Main Color & Texture)

RUSSIAN SAGE GOLDEN HONEYSUCKLE BARBERRY
██████████ ████████████████ ████████

Plants:

Russian Sage (Perovskia atriplicifolia)
Golden Honeysuckle (Lonicera nitida 'Baggesen's Gold' or similar)
Barberry (Berberis thunbergii)

Function:

Purple flowering drift (Russian Sage)
Bright golden focal mass (Golden Honeysuckle)
Seasonal contrast and texture (Barberry)

Front Layer (Water Edge)

VETIVER SALTBUSH VETIVER
███████ ████████ ███████

Plants:

Vetiver Grass (Chrysopogon zizanioides)
Saltbush (Atriplex spp.)

Function:

Soft transition to water
Soil stabilization
Fine texture contrast
Naturalistic shoreline appearance

Suggested Plant Spacing

Plant Spacing
Bamboo 1.5-2.0 m
Hybrid Willow 3.0-5.0 m
Russian Sage 0.7-0.9 m
Golden Honeysuckle 0.8-1.2 m
Barberry 0.8-1.2 m
Vetiver 0.6-0.8 m
Saltbush 1.0-1.5 m

This composition recreates the same visual hierarchy as the image: tall green backdrop → colorful shrub masses → ornamental grasses at the water's edge, with purple, gold, silver, and green tones providing year-round interest.
