We came to repair a homeowner’s sewer line and found this giant void underneath the street. 😳

Definitely not the kind of surprise anyone wants to find during a sewer repair. And unfortunately, the Ninja Turtles weren’t home to explain themselves. 🐢🍕

🐕Bella girl🐾 is excited to show off our newest upgrade! The Ridgid Chain Knocking machine behind her is like the "Rolls-Royce" for our drain tech!

Did you know: Chain knockers are often used by professional plumbers as part of a larger drain-cleaning arsenal alongside cables, hydro jetters, and inspection cameras. If you have grease and sludge buildup, or mineral scale slowing the flow down in your home this may be the answer for you as long as your pipes are not already old, deteriorated cast iron pipes or cracked PVC.

Back-to-school season means busy bathrooms, more laundry and everyone needing the sink at the same time. Before your family gets fully settled into the school routine, give your plumbing a quick check:

1. Run every sink and watch for slow drains. 💧
2. Flush each toilet and listen for gurgling. 🚽
3. Check under sinks for moisture or staining. 🚰
4. Look for water or movement around the base of toilets. 🚽
5. Clean hair from shower and tub drains. 🚿
6. Check washing machine hoses for cracks or bulging. 👚
7. Remind the kids what should never be flushed. 😬
8. Test your sump pump before Nebraska’s next heavy rain. 🌧️

And remember, “flushable” wipes can still cause serious drain and sewer clogs. 😳

August is a pretty big month around here. 🎉

Technically, Big Birge Plumbing officially became a business in August 2012, which means we’re celebrating 14 years incorporated this month.

But Brad and I like to argue that we’re actually celebrating 16. 😂

Because Big Birge Plumbing really started in August of 2010.💪

Brad had been laid off from his commercial plumbing job and decided to take a leap of faith and try working for himself.

He started with a tiny Ford Ranger, a box of tools, and pretty much took whatever work he could get.

Some days it was drain cleaning. Other days it was putting doors back on hinges. 😂 If there was a job to do and he could figure out how to do it, he was working.

There wasn’t a big business plan or some grand idea of what Big Birge Plumbing would become.

He was trying to take care of his family.

Two years later, in August 2012, we officially incorporated Big Birge Plumbing.

And somehow that little Ford Ranger and box of tools turned into a plumbing company with a team we’re incredibly proud of and thousands of Omaha-area families who have trusted us in their homes over the years.

It’s pretty crazy to look back at those first pictures and think about everything that has happened since.

So this month we’re celebrating 14 years of Big Birge Plumbing being “official”… but we’re giving Brad & Lallenia credit for all 16. 😉🔧

Thank you to our team, our customers, our families, and everyone who has supported us along the way.

We truly wouldn’t be here without you. 💙
