Hey garden pals! 🌿 Ever had a plant that just decided to do its own thing? Well, the side of the house is where the magic’s happening! I’ve got a bunch of quirky melons and gourds growing there and I’m thrilled to see how they turn out. Plus, it’s harvesting time! Just popping some green cabbages into the ground. They’re in great shape, ready to thrive. Anyone else have plants that like to break the mold? 🌱

Right now I'm doing two things at once in the garden, and honestly it's the sweet spot of August. I'm picking everything that's ready to go - tomatoes, peppers, beans, whatever - while also thinking ahead to what I want planted for fall. It sounds chaotic but it actually works out.

The stuff I'm harvesting now gives me real data on what worked and what didn't. Did those tomato plants produce enough? Were the beans worth the space? That info helps me decide what to plant again when I sow my fall garden.

I'm already prepping beds, pulling out spent plants, and getting ready to direct sow some greens and root veggies in the next few weeks. Timing matters here, so I'm mapping out what goes where before I get too deep into fall harvest mode.

If you're new to late summer gardening, this dual mindset is worth adopting. You get to enjoy your peak harvest while setting yourself up for another solid growing season.
